First choice goalkeeper of the senior national team of Nigeria Francis Odinaka Uzoho has agreed a season long loan move to Spanish second division side Elche from Deportivo La Coruna, Owngoalnigeria.com reports.
Uzoho left Deportivo La Coruna due to the decision of the club to keep him as third choice goalkeeper despite his status as Nigeria’s goalkeeper at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Elche confirmed he successfully underwent medicals with the club ahead of the loan move which will see him claim the position of first choice goalkeeper at the club.
Owngoalnigeria.com exclusively gathered that the club promised the 20 year old that he will be first choice and that helped their bid to sign him on loan ahead of other teams interested in the shot stopper.
Last season he kept two games in the La Liga for Deportivo before he was relegated to the B team in the third division following the axing of coach Pepe Mel.
He however kept his spot as Nigeria’s first choice goalkeeper and kept all of the three games Nigeria played at the World Cup 2018 before crashing out in the group stages.
