The first training of the Super Eagles of Nigeria ahead of Saturday African Cup of Nations Qualifiers tie against Seychelles took place yesterday with all players in camp taking part in the session.
Owngoalnigeria.com correspondent who witnessed the session revealed the players were involved in a tactical drill under the supervision of coach Gernot Rohr.
The tactical drills involved possession based football and ability to wriggle out of tight spaces as Rohr continue to build up the lads for the task of getting their AFCON qualifiers campaign back on track after losing their first game 0-2 to South Africa in Uyo.
Newly invited wing forward Samuel Kalu took the session by storm with his tricks, pace and nimble foot works coming to his rescue when he was in a tight spot during the drills.
The Bordeaux man and on loan Arsenal midfielder Kelechi Nwakali were the most impressive among the newly invited players with Nwakali who is on loan to Porto B displaying his ability to tread passes in tight areas.
Rotherham of England defender turned midfielder Semi Ajayi struggled to get the drills right as his lack of pace saw him lost possession although he dominated in the one on one duels.
Jamilu Collins earned applause from his teammates for his awareness and abilities to interpret the drills from the coach with ease. The Paderborn defender didn’t look like same player who many doubt his fitness after injury saw him leave the last league game of his team with six minutes left to play.
