Sadiq Umar Advises Rangers Teammate Ejaria To Pick Nigeria Ahead Of England – Nigeria Is Best For Him

Former Nigeria U23 top scorer Sadiq Umar says England youth international midfielder Ovie Ejaria should pledge his senior international career to Nigeria ahead of England.

Ejaria trained with the Nigerian U17 team of 2013 but failed to make the team for the World Youth Championship. He has since represented England at U19 and U21 level following his progress at Liverpool.

Presently out on loan to Rangers in Scotland, same country where the lanky Sadiq is also on loan from Italian Serie A side Roma, Jololo like Sadiq is called by close friends and associates said a switch to Nigeria at senior level will aid Ejaria’s career.

The 20 year old has established himself as a firm regular under coach Steven Gerrard at Rangers this season with strong performances in the Europa League as well as in the Scottish Premier League. His form has led to talks about a possible tug for his senior international future between Nigeria and England.

” Honestly we are yet to speak on his international career but I know he is a player for England at youth level. It will be best for him to represent Nigeria at senior level if he is called up”, Sadiq told in an exclusive chat.

” Playing for Nigeria has so many advantages. You have to look at the career of Alex Iwobi, William Troost-Ekong and Leon Balogun if you want a clear picture. The fans are patient and they support the team passionately plus you get a lot of respect from your teammates.

” I don’t think he will enjoy the same height if he plays for England at senior level. The opportunities and chances is there in Nigeria for young players unlike England, where emphasis is more on players playing for the top clubs “, he concluded.
