He arrived as an unknown player in the summer from second division Portuguese side Gil Vicente but the name James Igbekeme has made it way to the lips of fans of Real Zaragoza and by extension followers of the Spanish second division.
Igbekeme came to the attention of Owngoalnigeria.com during pre season games for Real Zaragoza with Moses Simon of Levante speaking highly of him after his side faced the left footed defensive midfielder in a pre season game.
His form has extended into the season proper with five games under his belt so far with one goal and two assist despite playing from a deep role in midfield.
Two weeks ago he was voted as the player of the week in the Spanish second division and already Zaragoza are fending off interest from top teams in Spain for the 23 year old.
Good at breaking up play, assured in tackles and composed on the ball, Igbekeme has emerged as the fulcrum of 9th placed Zaragoza and his absence was badly felt last weekend as injury ruled him out of the game against Lugo , which they lost 0-2 at home.
Three man of the match performance in five games has catapulted the relatively unknown midfielder to a player who many are aware off despite playing in the second division in Spain.
