Former Chelsea defender Mario Melchiot says the introduction of Alex Iwobi in Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Watford swung the game in favour of the gunners, who were second best before the introduction of the Nigerian.
Iwobi instigated the first goal scored by Arsenal as his well timed cross was turned in by Craig Cathcart for the own goal which gave Arsenal the lead before Mesut Ozil rounded up the win.
Once again the Nigerian was involved in the build up to the second goal with his pass setting free Alexander Lacazette who supplied the assit for Ozil to put the game to bed for Arsenal.
Melchiot who was a studio pundit during the game praise coach Unai Emery for his substitutions in the game but pointed out that Iwobi gave Arsenal a different dimension upon his introduction.
” They (Arsenal) were a bit flat with little or no penetration, it was all too easy for Watford to defend before Iwobi was introduced. He was very direct and ran at them in a different way”, Melchiot said in his post match analysis monitored by Owngoalnigeria.com.
