Coach of the senior national team of Libya Adel Amrouche has quit his position as coach of the team ahead of their AFCON 2019 Qualifiers against Nigeria on Saturday, Owngoalnigeria.com understands.
Reports gathered from various news outlets in Libya has it that the coach left his role earlier today citing non-payment of his salaries for six months as the reason behind his decision to quit the team.
Libya have moved swiftly to replace the coach with the man he succeeded Omar Al-Maryami and he has already resumed training with the team at their base in Tunisia, where they are preparing for the game against Nigeria.
Group leaders Libya are expected in Nigeria on Thursday with a 54 man crew for the game, which could see them lose top spot if they fail to beat Nigeria and as expected South Africa beats Seychelles.
The reverse tie of their clash will be played in Tunisia. A tie which will go a long way in determining the two teams in pole position to qualify for the African Cup of Nations in Cameroon next year.
