Goalkeepers of the senior national team of Nigeria were not left out of the first training session of the senior national team of Nigeria ahead of their Saturday AFCON 2019 Qualifiers tie against Libya.
They were subjected to several drills which includes tactical awareness, ball handling and reflexes as well as how to read and intercept crosses under the watchful eyes of coach Enricho Pionetti and Alloy Agu.
The trio of Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Francis Uzoho and Daniel Akpeyi were heavily involved in today’s training witnessed by Owngoalnigeria.com at the training pitch of the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
Uzoho looked prime to retain his position as the first choice goalkeeper of the team in Saturday’s game with a commanding performance in goal, particularly in the area of reacting after a save.
Ezenwa appears a bit lethargic and was beaten way more than any other goalkeeper when they had a game among themselves but his reflex and shot stopping ability was clearly better than that of the rest.
Akpeyi on his part looked very very sharp but his major drawback which is his matchday lack of confidence could see him remain as third choice goalkeeper even though the others didn’t outshine him in any particular way during today’s session.
