The criticism that has trailed the invitation of Paderborn defender Jamilu Collins to the national team of Nigeria base on the fact that he is playing for a second division team in Germany has been addressed by the 24 year old.

Last season Collins who holds a Croatian passport base on his marriage to the wife of his kid played a strong role in helping Paderborn secure promotion to the German second division from the third division.

He maintained his spot in the team this season as he has played in all of their games so far with two man of the match award to his name. Something which has helped him command the attention of the coach of the senior national team of Nigeria.

Coach Gernot Rohr rates the full back highly and he confirmed he would have handed him his first competitive start against Seychelles last time out if not for the injury he picked a day before the game.

Collins is however in line to play against Libya tomorrow base on the statement of Rohr in yesterday’s pre match conference and the full back says it will only be fair for Nigerians to judge him after the game against Libya, if he gets to play.

“I feel really welcome to the national team and I thank the coach for the patience and the trust. For what Nigerians think about my abilities, if I’m good or not. I will not say, let them wait until I get my chance and judge me afterwards. The only important thing now is for us to focus on the game and beat Libya”, the former Nigeria U20 defender said.

” I think in Germany, the second Bundesliga is one of the biggest in the world. You can check it out. So we have every quality there. You play in Europe or any where. In the English Premier League, Asia or even in Nigeria. All that matters is for you to have the quality which I believe is why I’m here with the team”.
