Gernot Rohr Explains Moses Simon’s Bit Part Role With Super Eagles Lately

Moses Simon is one player who was among the first name on the team sheet of the Super Eagles when Gernot Rohr took over as coach of the team and he played a big part in Nigeria’s qualification for the World Cup with a game to spare.

An injury picked up in training prior to the World Cup made him to miss the showpiece in Russia and since then he has failed to win his spot back in the team as Rohr now has other players ahead of him in the pecking order.

Simon who moved to Levante from Gent in the summer has also not had the best of time in Spain since his move no thanks to an injury picked up on the eve of their first game in the La Liga.

In the Super Eagles his former teammate at Gent Samuel Kalu has upstage him as the man for Rohr on the right wing of the team, while the emergence of Samuel Chukwueze also saw him come in as a substitute in the friendly game against Uganda.

Rohr however explained that the 23 year old is still very much in his plans and still remains an integral player of the team but just like other players who are out of the starting line up he has to work his way back into the team.

” Simon is very important to the team. He has the quality we need but I can’t play every player at the same time. He will play games for the team but he has to work hard and be patient while he wait for his moment “, Rohr said in Asaba when asked about the reduced role handed to the former Nigeria U20 forward in the Super Eagles post World Cup games.
