There’s still a chance that German U21 defender Felix Uduokhai who plays for Wolfsburg will switch allegiance to Nigeria according to reports exclusively gathered by Owngoalnigeria.com editorial team.
Uduokhai played for the U21 of Germany in a recent friendly game during the international break but the 19 year old who is rated as one of the best upcoming defenders in Germany is still open to the idea of representing Nigeria.
Although he turned down Nigeria’s initially approach to switch allegiance and represent them at the World Cup in Russia, he still left the door open for a possible switch in the future.
He reportedly told the Nigerian delegation led by coach Gernot Rohr to give him time to decide after having his breakthrough season at Wolfsburg last season following his transfer from 1860 Munich.
Playing for Nigeria at the next Africa Cup of Nations looks like a distant reality for now but he could represent Nigeria in the nearest future particularly if he fails to make the grade to the senior national team of Germany.
