Huddersfield Midfield Ace Billing Breaks Silence On Possible Switch Of Allegiance From Denmark To Nigeria

Huddersfield midfielder Philip Anyawu Billing has cleared the air on the country he will love to represent after Nigeria expressed their interest in luring him from Denmark.

Billing is eligible for Nigeria through his mother who is a Nigerian but the left footed midfielder has already represented the country of his birth at U21 level, however per FIFA rules he is still eligible to play for Nigeria since he is yet to be capped at senior level.

Coach of the Nigerian team Gernot Rohr revealed earlier this week that he has instructed his assistant who lives in London to hold talks with the 22 year old but according to Billing he hasn’t spoken with Nigeria but his agent did meet with an official of the Nigeria Football Federation ( NFF) .

Billing went further in clarifying the country he will love to represent by saying he feels more like a Dane than a Nigerian, so he want to continue playing for Denmark.

“No, I see myself as a Dane, and I also play the Danish U21 national team. So no, I have not thought if I should be honest. They said I’ve talked with them. But I have not personally had contact with the Nigerian national team at all, ” Philip Billing told Danish outlet BT

“I know my agents have said that Nigeria has approached them. There’s not much in it they just want to know if I want to play for the Nigerian national team, so I think it could be possible. But that’s not something I’m thinking about.”
