Ivory Coast international Solomon Kalou says Hertha Berlin rising defender Jordan Torunarigha should consider playing for Nigeria ahead of Germany, where he is a youth international.
Kalou spoke with Omasports TV in an exclusive interview anchored by popular German based Nigerian journalist Oma Akatugba after Hertha Berlin 2-0 win over Hannover 96.
The former Chelsea forward said he is not aware of the situation between Nigeria and Torunarigha over his international future, he however said he hope Nigeria convince the forward to have a change of mind. ““Jordan is a fantastic player, a good boy. I hope Nigeria can convince him but right now he is playing well for Hertha and that is the most important for me“, he told OmaSportstv.
Torunarigha scored his first league goal of the season in the game from his role as a central defender, and afterwards told Akatugba that he could yet play for Nigeria despite turning down the first approach from the coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr.
An established international for Germany at youth level, 21 year old Torunarigha is the son of former Shooting Stars ace Ojokojo Torunarigha who presently works with the youth team of Hertha Berlin.
Nigeria will be hoping he has a change of mind and tow same line like the duo of Leon Balogun and Joel Noah Sarenren-Bazee who have all pledged their future to Nigeria despite being eligible for Germany, although the aforementioned duo didn’t play for Germany at any level before committing their future to Nigeria.
