Rotherham United defender Semi Ajayi will have the backing of the coach of the senior national team of Nigeria if he decides to leave English Championship side Rotherham for a club in the Premier League.
24 year old Ajayi has impressed mightily for Rotherham this season with his national team debut for Nigeria also coming this season, five years after he failed to make the squad of the U20 of the same country bingo.
A move away from Rotherham has been on the cards for a while according to several sources and with two years left on his contract there’s no chance at least for now of him signing an extension at the club.
Speaking to Owngoalnigeria.com, Rohr said it will be good for Ajayi to make the step up to the English Premier League but warned that he should be sure of getting playing time before deciding to join the team.
” It will be good for his career and the national team if he plays in the top division in England but it’s not about playing for a big club, we use to tell them you have to be a regular to keep your spot in the team. So if he is going to get game time, it will be good for him and for us if he plays in the Premier League “, Rohr told Owngoalnigeria.com.
