The Flying Eagles of Nigeria are through to the final match of the WAFU U20 Championship taking place in Togo after a 5-4 shoot out win over Mali in the semi final with both teams tied at 1-1 after regulation time.
Senegal took a 12th minute lead through Sambou Cissoko as Nigeria struggle to find their rhythm early into the game. Senegal hanged onto their lead till the half time break.
Nigeria emerged from the half the better side and two minutes later central defender Valentine Ozornwafor headed home the leveller for Nigeria, a score which stood same until the end of regulation time.
The game went into shoot out with Nigeria succeeding with all of their five efforts from the spot while Mali missed one which sent the Nigerians through on a 5-4 scoreline.
They will now take on Senegal in the final following their 4-2 spot kick win over Niger Republic in the other semi final after both teams remained tied at 2-2 after ninety minutes.
