Super Eagles defender Chidozie Awaziem has dropped down a level to the B team of FC Porto after failing to make the grade with the senior team despite impressing while on loan last season to Ligue 1 side Nantes.
Awaziem has played just two games for Porto since the start of this season with coach Sergio Conceicao preferring other defenders ahead of the Nigerian despite assuring him of regular playing time before the start of the season.
With a combined total of 98 minutes under his belt in competitive games this season, the 21 year old took part in the game of the B team yesterday against Pacos Ferreira, where he was roundly voted as the best player of the team in the 1-0 win.
It’s still not known how long he will remain with the B team and with the transfer window about to open in January he will no doubt be on the wishlist of several clubs just as it was in the summer.
Porto are open to the idea of allowing leave the club in January but on the condition that he extends his current contract which is set to expire in 2020 before he will be allowed to leave.
