The Flying Eagles of Nigeria who were yesterday beaten 0-2 by Senegal in the final match of the WAFU U20 Championship have two players picked in the best XI players of the tournament.
Newly signed on Plateau United forward Ibrahim Abubakar Babawo who now uses the moniker ‘New Ahmed Musa ‘ was selected among the Best XI players of the tournament at the end of the championship yesterday.
Despite playing as a right full back and not his traditional role as winger, the 18 year old still emerged as the best right back of the tournament after his performance for Nigeria in all four games at the tournament.
Enterprising Enyimba FC of Aba forward Effiom Maxwell Michael was selected as well from the Nigerian team with his brace against Ghana probably the determinant in his selection in the squad.
The duo were selected alongside four players from the victorious Senegalese side while Niger Republic has two players in the list with Mali having a single representative.
For Nigeria the duo of Ikouwem Udoh and Olawale Oremade the goalkeeper of the Nigerian team were listed among the substitutes in the Best XI of the tournament picked by journalist who covered the events.
