Exclusive – Chidozie Awaziem Joins Turkish Side Rizespor On Loan From FC Porto

Nigeria international defender Chidozie Awaziem has made a loan switch to Turkish side Caykur Rizespor after failing to make his mark in the first team of Portuguese side FC Porto despite a successful time on loan to Nantes of France last season.

The 22 year old agreed to join Trabzonspor on loan but the transfer ban slammed on the club by FIFA stopped the move and he has now pitched his tent with another Turkish side in Rizespor, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

He will be hoping to get game time to help his case of making the squad of the senior national team of Nigeria to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt as his inactivity at club level made coach Gernot Rohr to leave him out of the squad for the final games of the qualifiers.

A member of the World Cup Squad, Awaziem was hoping to make his mark in the team of Porto this season after assurances by coach Sergio Conceicao but the signing of experienced Portuguese defender Pepe means he is now further down the pecking order at the club.
