A late change has been made to the squad of the U20 team of Nigeria for the Africa U20 Cup of Nations ahead of their departure to Niger Republic next week, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
Real Sapphire FC forward Victor Boniface largely regarded by many as one of the star to keep an eye on in the attack of the team has been ruled out of the tournament after picking up a meniscus injury in training.
His spot in the final squad of players for the tournament has been taken by Vaxjo of Sweden forward Pascal Durugbor who has been with the team for a while but didn’t make the squad for the tournament.
Durugbor has also been very impressive the past few weeks before the naming of the squad and in a particular test game he scored twice following his introduction but Boniface was well ahead of him.
Boniface has called in their last three games despite coming on as a substitute and playing less than 90 minutes in the games. His absence will no doubt hurt the attack of the team owing to his near perfect performance at the WAFU U20 Championship.
