Coach of the Nigeria U20 team Paul Aigbogun was obviously impressed with the performance of Italian-Nigerian goalkeeper Jonathan Zaccala who trained with the Nigeria U20 team before their departure for the Africa U20 Cup of Nations.
Aigbogun told Owngoalnigeri.com in a chat after the training of the team that Zaccala who didn’t make the list of players selected for the tournament was at his best during the drills for goalkeepers.
Zaccala was impressive with his reflexes although the trio of Olawale Oremade, Akpan Udoh and Daetan Ogundare also show why they were selected ahead of the 17 year old, who plays in Italy for GS Arconatese.
Born in Italy to Nigerian parents, he is among the numerous Nigerian players born abroad who have been approached by coach Aigbogun to pledge their future to Nigeria at international level.
Yet to be capped by Italy at any level, Aigbogun will watch him at close quarters after the Africa U20 Cup of Nations in view of handing him a spot in the Suwon Invitational Tournament which comes up in March.
