A total of six Anglo-Nigerian players have been pencilled by coach of the Nigeria U20 team Paul Aigbogun for extensive scouting ahead of the World Youth Championship in Poland later in the year, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively report.
Nigeria progressed to the semi-final of the Africa U20 Cup of Nations, hence sealing qualification for the World Youth Championship in and Aigbogun is already planning ahead of the tournament.
He has identified six British born players and he hope to watch them in tournament situation if their club release them to play for Nigeria next month at the Suwon Invitational Tournament in Korea.
” I met and watched a lot of them while I was in the UK ( United Kingdom) . So far I can say Nnamdi Ofoborh of Bournemouth will no doubt return to the team, same as Jayden Bennetts of Watford and maybe his elder brother who plays in Germany for Borrussia Mochengladbach Keanan Bennetts”, Aigbogun told Owngoalnigeria.com in an exclusive chat.
” There’s this left back at Arsenal Tobi Omole, I spoke with his parents and the response was positive, hopefully we will call him up. Tom Dele-Bashiru of Manchester City would have made the squad for the U20 AFCON but he is sorting out his future at Man City.
” Yusuff Ojebode of West Bromwich Albion was also invited but his club explained to us that he is just returning from a lay off due to injury.
” The six of them are very much in my plans after the World Youth Championship. However it all depends on their clubs releasing them for the tournament when we need them”, he concluded.
