Manchester City want-away teen ace Tom Dele-Bashiru has voiced his intention to represent Nigeria at the U20 World Youth Championship in Poland later this year according to coach of the Nigeria U20 team Paul Aigbogun.
Speaking to Owngoalnigeria.com, the soft spoken coach said he had fruitful talks with the 19 year old who plays for the U23 of English Premier League champions Manchester City.
” Dele-Bashiru was stopped from representing Nigeria at the Africa U20 Cup of Nations by Man City due to his contractual situation at the club. He has however given me his words that he will no doubt be at the World Youth Championship “, Aigbogun told Owngoalnigeria.com.
” He is one of the players I want to use to fortify my midfield. This is the World Youth Championship and we need the best legs who are within the age limit to represent Nigeria regardless of where they are born, he will add quality to our options in midfield “, he concluded.
Expected to leave City in the summer with his possible destination set to be the Serie A, where Atalanta are reportedly interested in his services following his decision to turn down the offer of a contract extension at the Etihad club with his contract set to run out in the summer.
Dele-Bashiru represented England twice at U16 level in 2014 but since then he hasn’t made the step up to the next level of international youth football with England despite making his first team bow at Man City last season.
