Highly rated Nigerian defender Junior Udeme Pius once again proved right the reason why he is so highly rated in Portugal with the winner for his loan side Pacos Ferreira in their 1-0 win over Benfica B.
Udeme rose highest to head home a well delivered free kick from Pedrinho in the 66th minute, a goal which ended as the winner and also move table toppers Pacos close to promotion after 25 round of games.
Pacos currently hold a ten point lead over second place Famalicao with seven games to go and Junior who has been ever present for them in defence played a big role in their season, particularly in defence where they have conceded just 14 goals so far.
On loan from Tondela where injury slowed his progress in the Portuguese top division last season, the option of making his deal permanent was given to Pacos and from all indication they will unless a club pays his release clause of €1.5m.
23 year old Junior will no doubt sign a two year deal at Pacos base on the fact that the €1.5m release clause is already activated by the terms of his contract at Tondela, who are expected to sell him to Pacos for a fee in the region of €300,000 base on what was agreed before his loan deal.
