The invitation of Nigeria U23 defender Valentine Ozornwafor to the senior national team of Nigeria after his impressive performance for the Nigeria U20 team at the U20 Cup of Nations has been explained by coach of the team Gernot Rohr.
Ozornwafor as first reported by this portal made the squad for the upcoming for the AFCON 2019 Qualifiers and friendly game gainst Seychelles and Egypt respectively in Asaba, Delta State Nigeria.
Rohr while defending his list explained he invited the left footed defender to bring freshness and also physical strength not forgetting his quality which earned him a place in the CAF Best XI of the recently concluded Africa U20 Cup of Nations.
The coach further explained that the fact that he plays with his left leg also gave him an edge as the present squad of the Super Eagles is pack filled with right footed defenders.
“I expect this player to bring his freshness, his physical strength (1m97) and technical quality . It also offers us an additional option since we have a lot of right sided defenders. I saw him in Niger at the AFCON and I like his aerial game,”he added.
