Chinedu Ekene Forced To Change His Mind About Switching Allegiance To Nigeria By German FA

Top German journalist Mark Rowland says Hoffenheim U23 striker Chinedu Ekene is having doubts about switching allegiance to Nigeria from Germany, hence his decision to pull out of the Nigeria U20 team ahead of the World Youth Championship.

Ekene told officials of the Nigerian team of his intention to switch allegiance to Nigeria two months ago and even spoke with coach of the senior national team Gernot Rohr on phone when the coach of the U20s Paul Aigbogun visited him.

However he failed to turn up at their camp in Germany under the excuse that he is injured but the technical crew feared the worst and their fears have now been confirmed by Rowland in an exclusive chat with

” I really think he isn’t convinced about playing for Nigeria, remember he was captain of the U16 of Germany few years ago and if not for the unfortunate injury that kept him out for 18 months or so he would have make the step up to the Bundesliga “, Rowland told
