New Super Eagles Coach Gets Enlarged Backroom Staff, Retains Two Local Coaches As Assistants

The new coach of the senior national team of Nigeria is set to have an enlarged backroom staff that will include two indigenous coaches, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

Nigeria navigated the AFCON qualifiers with interim coach Austine Eguavoen handling them through a successful campaign, but he is now expected to return back to his role as the technical director of the NFF.

Ahead of the start of the world cup qualifiers, the NFF have stepped up preparations for the appointment of a new coach, who is expected to be appointed before the end of this month to enable him prepare for the world cup qualifiers game against Rwanda in March.

We exclusively gathered that the delay in his appointment is due to the need to pay not just the wages of the proposed coach , but that of his backroom staff which will include two of his assistants, fitness coach, a video analyst, a goalkeeper’s coach and also another who will work more with the defenders.

The enlarged backroom staff will also include the two coaches of the CHAN team in Daniel Ogunmodede and Fidelis Ilechukwu. Already a sponsor is said to have agreed to pay the wages with the coach expected to be named before the end of this month.
