The decision of Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo to snub the chance to be a part of the senior national team of Nigeria has been termed as a blessing in disguise by a chieftain of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

Tosin was approached by the former coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr to play for Nigeria in 2018, but he turned down the chance and even when Jose Peseiro who was in charge in 2023 made the same move he still wasn’t interested.

Interim coach Austine Eguavoen who was invited by the defender to watch him in action, while he was at Fulham last season also tried talking him into a change of mind but to no avail.

With the World Cup qualifiers set to resume in March, Tosin who is still hoping for an England call up has again dominated discussions in Nigeria with many calling on the NFF to make another push to have him in the Nigerian colours.

” He (Tosin) can’t even get into the Super Eagles starting lineup. I am a Chelsea fan and he is one of the players that has not helped the team this season, and like a lot of others we can’t comprehend why he was signed in the first place”, he told OwnGoalNigeria.com.
