Former Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi is set to be announced as the new manager of South Africa PSL side Orlando Pirates according to a source close to the Ex Mali and Togo coach.

Keshi was chosen for the job ahead of former SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt, the only notable name linked along side him in the race to replace Eric Tinkler whose failure to guide the Buccaneers to victory in the Nedbank Cup Final proved fatal to his continual stay as coach.

“I can confirm to you that yesterday evening Keshi received a call from a high placed staff of Orlando Pirates congratulating him on the job, all things been equal it will be wrapped up before the end of this week”, a source close to the man who helped Nigeria win AFCON 2013 told Owngoalnigeria.com.

He further revealed that an official announcement could also be imminent if some minor details are ironed out before the close of the week.

Keshi was axed as coach of Nigeria for allegedly applying for the vacant post of coach of the Ivory Coast national team while still under contract with the Nigeria national team.

Since leaving his job as coach of the Nigeria National team in 2015, Keshi has remained unemployed spending time with his family in the United State of America after losing his wife to the cold hands of death following a protracted battle with cancer.
