Derry City suffered a 4-1 defeat against Danish side FC Midtjylland in the second leg of their Europa League first round qualifier at the Sligo Showground, with Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu scoring a hat-trick

Derry were thumped 6-1 in the first leg last week and were once again outclassed as the visitors dominated the game. Nicknamed Nigerian Peter Crouch, the over six feet tall Onuachu scored a hat-trick in a dominant display whilst Aaron McEneff’s well taken first-half goal offered a rare bright moment for the Candystripes.

Two first-half goals from Onuachu ended any hopes of an unlikely Derry comeback , the striker also set up the third goal for his side before completing his hat-trick with less than 20 minutes left to play in the game.

Onuachu will be hoping to continue his fine start to the season when they take on Hungarian side Ferencavros in the next round of qualifiers next week Thursday.
