Former Nigeria U-17 goalkeeper Francis Uzoho will succeed at Spanish La-Liga side Deportivo La Coruna according to a journalist who is close to the team.

Uzoho joined the La-Liga side last year from Aspire Academy, and in just over a year he moved from the U18s to the first team, where he is presently training with them in their pre season camp.

Jonas Rivas who covers the La-Liga side extensively told Owngoalnigeria.com that the 18 year old has all the tools to be the first choice of Deportivo La Coruna, if he ‎maintains his current growth and hard work.

” The team has history with African goalkeepers, the likes of Jacques Song’o of Cameroon and Peter Rufai of Nigeria were here at a time. Song’o particularly was outstanding. Rufai played few games but he was decent”, Rivas told Owngoalnigeria.com.

” They in a way set the tone for the likes of Uzoho who is presently on the rise. So in terms of opportunity, he will definitely get his chance if he impresses. He is a big lad with a firm grip rarely seen in a goalkeeper of his age.

” I think he needs to learn to play with his legs more, which is somehow a requirement for most goalkeepers in Spain. Ability to play from the back is key and Uzoho needs to learn it quick.

“He’s third choice now. Considering he’s been there for just a year. That is a remarkable rise I must confess. He is in safe hands here”.
