Coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr had his players up against each other in a training match to perfect tactics ahead of Saturday’s AFCON 2019 Qualifiers clash against Libya in Uyo.
The training session which was held at the training pitch of the Godswill Akpabio Stadium saw some players train in red bibs while others were in blue bibs during the session which lasted a little over an hour.
For the team in blue, Ikechukwu Ezenwa was in goal with the likes of Chidozie Awaziem, Ola Aina, Semi Ajayi complementing him in defence while Oghenekaro Etebo and Samuel Kalu were among the forwards in the blue bib.
Francis Uzoho kept goal for the team in red bibs with John Ogu, Jamilu Collins and Brian Idowu playing as part of the defenders behind Kelechi Iheanacho, Moses Simon, Henry Onyekuru and Isaac Success.
Rohr made the players play in tight spaces by sharing the training pitch into three and asking the players to play in it. A sign of how he thinks Libya would line up on Saturday.
From the session witnessed by Owngoalnigeria.com, it appears the coach is of the opinion that their opponents will be organised at the back or better still play with lot of players behind the ball, hence the need for the players to learn how to play in tight spaces ahead of the game.
