QPR midfield sensation Ebere Eze was at a time pushing for a spot in the senior national team of Nigeria and even took part in a training camp in London but the 22 year old now plays for the U21s of England.
Eze played in a practice game which the Super Eagles players played among themselves during the camp in London with Ola Aina, Chuba Akpom and Josh Maja also taking part.
From the trio only Aina was deemed needed by the coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr as he pulled all the stop to make sure the paper works for his switch of allegiance came through on time.
At that time Eze was still working his way up the first team at QPR, hence despite impressing Rohr he wasn’t seen as an immediate priority as the Franco-German coach felt he has better options in midfield.
Before the end of last season, Eze’s name was on the lips of the fans of QPR for his impressive performance but Rohr stuck to his core of players who prosecuted the qualifiers for the Russia showpiece.
He carried his form into this season and once again Rohr snubbed the creative midfielder and only made his move for him few days before his call up to the England U20 was made official.
Reports gathered by Owngoalnigeria.com has it that he told the contact of the Nigeria Football Federation ( NFF) who spoke with him of his plans to honour the call up to the U20 of England.
Since making his debut, Eze is now focused on progressing through the various ranks of the national team of England and that alone should bother Nigeria because they had him in their hands but surprisingly let him slip away.
