0

Super Eagles right full back Musa Muhammed has been told to search for a new club in January by high flying Turkish side Istanbul Basaksehir.

Since joining the team last summer, the 20 year old Nigerian is yet to make a single appearance for the Turkish side, and he is presently viewed as the fourth choice right fullback of the team.

So far he has just five professional appearances to his name in over one year at the Turkish side, and the table toppers in Turkey have made it clear that his services are no longer required.

” Yesterday when they played Galatasary, I spoke with a member of the team shortly after the game which they won 2-1 away from home to maintain their fine start to the season. I asked about Muhammed’s situation and I was told he has been told to leave” Turkish journalist Adnan Adem told Owngoalnigeria.com.

” As a matter of fact, he is aware he is not needed even before the start of the season, one wonder why he stayed behind. It’s a pity but he hasn’t really grown”.

Portuguese giants FC Porto hav formally applied to UEFA for Musa Yahaya to be registered for the UEFA Youth League, when the second stanza gets underway next year.
Rated as one of the best teen prospect in Nigeria alongside the likes of Iheanacho and co after conquering the world at U-17 level in 2013, he trained with English giants Tottenham Hotspur before heading out on loan to Portimonense.

After spending six months at Portimonense, he was traded by Spurs to Portuguese side FC Porto, where he has been since the summer but still waiting for his first game with the club.

However, while his first team debut might take a while, he will most likely play for the B team in the UEFA youth league going by reports exclusively gathered by Owngoalnigeria.com.

The 19 year old was at the embassy for his visa, which will enable travel with the team to all of their games in the tournament.

” Yahaya is a part of the first team of FC Porto. He trains regularly with them that is why he is not playing for the B team in the lower league but he will represent them in the UEFA Youth League” a source close to the player told Owngoalnigeria.com.

” He went to the embassy few days ago to get his visa, he will definitely play for the team this season. Most likely next year after the Christmas celebration”.

Nigeria vs Algeria: Wilfred Ndidi Should Pair Mikel In Midfield Not Onazi- View From Belgium

0

As Nigeria gear up for the World Cup 2018 qualifiers game against Algeria in Uyo, a game that has been termed the sternest test yet for manager Gernot Rohr. The coach has been urged to play Wilfred Ndidi in the middle alongside Mikel Obi.

Ndidi was played from the right full back position in Nigeria’s 2-1 win over Zambia in Ndola, but Belgium based African Football expert Willy Musonda believes the 20 year old is under utilised.

” I saw the game between Nigeria and Zambia and I think Ndidi didn’t play up to 50 % of his abilities. In Belgium he is about the best defensive midfielder in the country” He told Owngoalnigeria.com.

“His passing range and his success with tackles have been one of the strength on which Genk have been building from since last season. He has added goals to his game as well, something you hardly see in defence minded players.

” It’s a no brainer, for the amount of space he covers against Algeria, I expect the Nigerian coach to play him from the middle, he could be the link between defence and attack.

” He doesn’t commit foul around the edge of the box or in dangerous position and his recovery rate is second to none. Rohr should be brave enough to drop Eddy Onazi and play Wilfred Ndidi in the middle”.

” We don’t play the Chelsea way, against Algeria we won’t play like Chelsea, so we might necessarily not need a wing back. On the flanks we have Ahmed Musa, Moses Simon and Alex Iwobi, Victor Moses is part of them” He said.

“The idea is to put out the best team with the best formation for the Algeria game, although we intend to maintain most of the players who started the game against Zambia. We will build from there”.

” People talk about his lack of experience but he has been in Europe for two years. How many young African goalkeppers are in Europe? It tells you his quality.”

Olarenwaju Kayode Knocking On Super Eagles Door With Both Hands, Scores Against Roma Again

0

Olarenwaju Kayode is making a case for inclusion in the Nigeria senior national team after scoring for the second consecutive game against Roma in the Europa League although his team Austria Wien lost 2-4 at home to the Italian giants.

Kayode scored a late equaliser against Roma in Italy a fortnight ago when both teams clashed in Roma to help his team draw 3-3. He followed it up with a goal two minutes into the reverse tie in Austria.

Although he ended up on the losing side, his goal scoring form could earn him a call up to the Nigeria senior national team, with new coach Gernot Rohr running the rule over him.

Rohr has lamented the quality of the league he plays in but his goals in the Europa League could swing the manager into giving him a chance. Already he has nine goals this season with five coming in the Europa League.

A Super Eagles call up won’t be long, if he maintains his present scoring streak, as Rohr is keen on giving all players equal opportunities when the team starts playing friendly games next year.
