STOP PRESS: Iheanacho Isn’t Earning £85,000, Iwobi Highest Paid Nigerian Teen

Contrary to reports that Manchester City teen star Kelechi Iheanacho is Nigeria’s second highest earning player, Owngoalnigeria.com can reveal that the forward isn’t earning as high as the figure earlier reported.

We had reported that the 19 year old is on a wage of £85,000 a week but according to Totalsportek, Andy Michael the Nigerian is earning £10,000 a week but it can reach up to £85,000 a week with performance bonuses included.

According to Andy, the bonuses includes goals scored, games played in,points picked by the team in home and away games, first team appearance and even substitute appearance has it’s own bonus.

The flexibility of his bonus has made it easy for him to earn £85,000 a week but his basic take home pay is £10,000 a week.

Meanwhile we also gathered that Arsenal Alex Iwobi is Nigeria highest paid teenager, as the 20 year old trousers £30,000 a week at the Gunners following his new deal.

Nigeria international Alex Iwobi has earned himself more praises after his scintillating performance for Arsenal in their 3-0 win over London rival Chelsea.

Alex Iwobi has reacted to the man of the match award he picked up in Arsenal’s convincing 3-0 win over Chelsea in the English Premier League.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria are set to take on Zambia without key central defender Leon Balogun who pulled out injured early during Mainz 05 clash against Bayern Leverkusen.

Manager of Arsenal Arsene Wenger says Alex Iwobi has qualities which requires proper knowledge of football before someone can appreciate his talents.

Wenger said the 20 year old Nigerian is not the type of player to impress a manager from the get go, but he something in him, which struck him when he first saw him.

“[I knew] when I took him in training a few times,” said Wenger.
“He is not the kind of player who impresses you at first. But when you look a bit deeper he is quick at connecting with other players. Quick analysis.
“Football is perception, decision-making and acting. The perception especially struck me. The perception he has of the game and the speed of his decision-making struck me.

Al Ahly Shendi Nigerian forward Kelechi Osunwa has set a new goal scoring record in the Sudanese Premiere League with six matches to go.

Osunwa is on 33 goals, a tally which includes 4 hattricks, 5 brace in addition to five man of the match award. He is now the all time scorer in the league with 158 goals since moving to the country in 2011 from Dolphins of Porthacourt.

His goals tally includes 54 with Al-Hilal, 62 with Al-Merikh aside his present goal count of 33 and still counting with Al-Ahly Shendy in the Sudanese Premier League.

The 31 year old joined Al-Hilal of Sudan, when he first arrived in the country before leaving the club six years later in a controversial big money move to fierce rivals Al-Merreikh.

He had a short six months stint in Thailand with BEC Tero Sasana before joining Ismaily in the Egyptian Premier League.

In 2001, Osunwa came to prominence when he finished as top scorer in the Nigeria second division to lead Dolphins (Rivers United) to promotion, a feat which earned him a call up to the Nigeria U-17 team for the Africa Youth Championship in Seychelles.

At the Championship he finished as top scorer as Nigerian romp to her first ever Under-17 Africa title but he was controversially omitted from the team that went to the World Youth Championship in Trinidad and Tobago.

Former Barcelona Nigerian Teen Elohor Testing With Watford

Former Barcelona trainee Godswill Elohor Ekpolo is currently on trial with English Premiership side Watford, following his release by Barcelona in the summer.

The Nigerian Olympic team invitee played for the U-23 of Watford in their 1-4 loss to Sheffield Wednesday three days ago.

He lasted 81 minutes before he was substituted in the game that also saw two other Nigerians on parade for the U23s of the Hornets, in Ogo Obi and Tom Adeyemo.

This is his second trail in England after failing to secure a deal with Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers earlier in the summer.
