Sampdoria summer acquisition and Nigeria Olympic bronze medallist Stanley Amuzie was an unused substitute in their 0-1 loss to AC Milan in a Serie A game at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.

Head coach of the Nigeria U-17 team Manu Garba says Liverpool teen sensation Ovie Ejiara could have been a part of his title winning U-17 team of 2013 were it not for Arsenal who stopped the teen.

Ejiara has taken Liverpool pre season games by storm earning praises from those who have watched him play and according to Manu Garba he could easily have won the U-17 World Cup with Nigeria in 2013 alongside the likes of Kelechi Iheanacho,Isaac Success and Taiwo Awoniyi were it not for his move from West Ham to Arsenal back then.

Former Nigeria Premier League top scorer Gbolahan Salami whose brace helped his Finnish side KuPS to a 2-1 win over Mariehamn last week, has once again bailed his team out in a league game.

25 year old Salami drew KuPS level in the 80th minute via the spot after LAHTI took the lead in the 39th minute of the tie. The one point earned courtesy of Salami’s strike moved KuPS to 5th position on the log.

He was one of the four Nigerians who started the game for KuPS with Aliyu Abubakar, Paul Onobi and Azubuike Egwuekwe also named in the starting line up.

Stanley Amuzie could make his Serie A debut for Sampdoria when they take on AC Milan in a league game on Friday evening.

19 year old Amuzie was among the list of 24 players listed by coach Marco Giampaolo for tonight’s clash. He could make his debut as the team has issues with personell at the back with four defenders ruled out through injury.

Last season Amuzie turned out for second division side Olhanense before making his debut for the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the double header AFCON 2017 clash against Egypt.

World football governing body FIFA has appointed Egyptian referee Ghead Grisha for Nigeria’s World Cup 2018 qualifiers against Zambia, which will take place on the 9th of October in the Zambian town of Ndola.

His appointment will no doubt raised eyebrows among football followers in Nigeria due to his past history with Nigeria notably at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, where he awarded Zambia a controversial penalty that helped them draw 1-1 with Nigeria.

In that game Grisha awarded a spot kick to Zambia, then Africa Champions in the 84th minutes for a foul on Mayuka allegedly committed by Ogenyi Onazi. But replays showed that the Zambian forward tripped over the ball without Onazi putting in a tackle.

Head coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has settled on three goalkeppers for Nigeria’s first World Cup 2018 qualifiers against Zambia in Ndola.

Rohr has picked the trio of Emmanuel Daniel, Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Carl Ikeme as his shot stoppers for the clash in October, shelving any plans of a recall for former Super Eagles goalkepper and captain Vincent Enyeama.

The German coach confirmed he will hold talks with the Lille shot stopper in France but the timing and crucial nature of Nigeria’s first clash against Zambia has forced him to put the plans on hold until at least after the game.

” Same goalkeppers are going to be called up, Ezenwa, Ikeme and Daniel. For now Ikeme is still the first choice goalkepper we don’t have any fear or concern about his abilities” a source told Owngoalnigeria.com.

” Enyeama might be called up in the future but for now, he is not in our plans. He hasn’t shown enough commitment to return back to the team. We will use what we have as they are also very good goalkeppers in their own right”.

Despite failing to play in any of FC Porto first team games so far, Owngoalnigeria.com can reveal that Super Eagles invitee Chidozie Awaziem is still a part of manager Nuno Espirito Santo first team plans.

Awaziem has been restricted to playing games for the B team who are in the second division in Portugal where he has made five appearances so far. But the 19 year old got sent off in the 34th minute in their last league game against Freamunde, a game they ended up losing 1-3.

His sending off was narrowed down to the frustrations of being asked to drop a level down to the B team after impressing for the main team last season. Where he made 10 appearances and scored once in the Cup game against Benfica.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) are confident that captain of the Super Eagles Mikel John Obi will play a big role in convincing teen defender Ola Aina to snub England for Nigeria when the time is ripe.

Aina who has a Nigerian father is highly regarded as one of the young promising full backs in England, where he has represented the country at various youth level before his first team debut for Chelsea.
