Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has faulted Nigeria international Alex Iwobi for the goal conceded by Arsenal in their 1-1 draw against PSG in their opening UEFA Champions League clash.

PSG took an early lead just 44 seconds into the game, when Edinson Cavani headed home a pin point cross from Serge Aurier who had all of the time he needed to whip in the cross.

Henry speaking as a Television pundit blamed Iwobi for not tracking his man, which left full back Nacho Monreal exposed to the threat of PSG from the right.

” Iwobi should have been on Aurier, he didn’t track his man. Some little discipline you need as a winger which I believe he has learnt from the game. He had a good game overall. His confidence on the ball and ability to thread passes is such a beauty to behold” He said.

” In the second half, he gave a better display playing from the right and Alexis Sanchez has pure class when it comes to using the ball in the opponent’s half”.

Italian Serie A side Roma are yet to hear from Barcelona over their interest in Nigerian teen full back Nura Abdullahi, who was reportedly hotly chased by the Spanish giants before he got injured last season.

The 18 year old sparkled in a UEFA Youth League game for Roma against Barcelona last season, but a deal for the attacking teen full back was at that time too complicated as he was on loan to Roma from Serie B side Spezia.

Roma exercised the option they have in making his deal a permanent one this summer, but an injury which required surgery plus a lengthy road to recovery means interest from Barcelona died down a bit.

However he is back to his best possible shape after returning back from the surgery in record time but his intermediary Mohammed Lawal says, they have been no contact with Barcelona since his return.

” Maybe you asking me this question earlier than you supposed to because he just returned back to training, anyway aside the first contact we are yet to hear from them” He told Owngoalnigeria.com.

Ojo and Ovie Ejaria are very high on the priority list of the NFF in players they want to pledge their international future to Nigeria. While they are calm over Ejaria, Ojo’s case is much more complex.

A top official of the NFF Technical Committee revealed to Owngoalnigeria.com that talks with the 18 year old were over even before it started, due to his lack of interest.

” We contacted a family member early this year, talks were supposed to have accelerated during the off season, but nothing of note happened. He is no longer a priority, at least for now” He told Owngoalnigeria.com.

” He is still keen on pursuing an international career with England, which isn’t too bad judging on the fact that he has played for their various youth teams. We wish him well”.

Super Eagles captain Mikel John Obi could find himself filling in as a central defender against Liverpool next weekend, following the injury to captain John Terry.

Although David Luiz is most likely to start in defence alongside Gary Gahill there’s every possibility that Mikel could sit on the bench as the reserve central defender and, possibly play some part in the game from same role depending on the situation of the game.

Although there are different options available to the manager if the need arises. Conte will no doubt have Mikel at the back of his mind as one of his alternatives.

Mikel is not new to playing in central defence for Chelsea. Last season he filled in admirably well for 45 minutes against Swansea City alongside Branisalv Ivanovic to help the Blues grind out a 1-0 win.

In the game against Swansea, Matt Miazga was struggling to cope with the threat of the forward line of the Swans, forcing interim manager Guus Hiddink to replace him with Brazilian teen Kennedy, while Mikel moved to central defence as part of a back four consisting of Ivanovic, Baba Rahman and Cesar Azpilicueta.

Agent Running Away From Enugu Rangers Star Nwobodo Due To Multiple Representatives

The chances of Enugu Rangers midfield maestro Obinna Nwobodo playing abroad anytime soon appears bleak as top scouts and agents are wary of sanctioning a deal for the talented midfielder.

Nwobodo is widely regarded as one of the talented teenagers in the Nigeria Professional League and, his fine performances for league contenders Rangers is viewed as one of the reasons why they are competing for their first domestic title in over 30 years.

However for all of his performances the 19 year old could find a move abroad hard to come by, unless he settles for one representative as he presently has like 5 people laying claims to him as their client.

At the last check, three top agents who have proposed deals to the former U-20 AYC winner have all turned their back on him, as they have to deal with about five representatives.

The issue of multiple representative is not a new thing for players in the Nigeria local league as most talented players in the league have such problems, which has stopped them from penning deals abroad.
