Former Nigeria international and coach of JS Hercules of Finland Daniel Amokachi has likened Ikorodu United Dutch coach Theo de Jong to legendary Dutch men Rinus Michel and Johan Cruyff.

Amokachi made the comparison on his official twitter handle when one of his followers tried to play down his comment on the coaching abilities of the Dutch man, shortly after he lead troubled Ikorodu United to a 1-0 win away at Heartland FC of Owerri.

” Mr. Theo de Jong. He is a legend. People don’t understand what a guru we have working in Nigeria” He posted.

The younger brother to former Black Leopards of South Africa forward Joshua Obaje told Owngoalnigeria.com in a chat last month, that he is aware of interest from Sfaxien and two teams from Israel.

” Esperance of Tunisia contacted us through an agent just like Sfaxien, but the decision is entirely up to the lad, the interest is not a problem he has helped himself that much” An official of Wikki Tourist told Owngoalnigeria.com.

All efforts to contact the soft spoken forward on the interest of Esperance proved abortive as his three mobile numbers were switched off, as at the time of going to press.

FIFA have reportedly told Serbia that they cannot cap prolific Nigerian striker Friday Eze, who was two seasons ago voted the best player and also won the top scorer award in the Serbian league following a stellar campaign for modest side Mladost Lucani.

Serbia made attempt to cap the 23 year old but FIFA newly revised law on nationality switch for players stopped them from having him in their team.

The Kaduna born forward presently plays for Saudi Arabia side Al Quadisiya on loan from relegated Qatari side Al-Fujairah, the team he joined last summer but couldn’t rescue them from relegation despite scoring 14 goals.

In Saudi Arabia, he has scored once in two games, which has now taken his tally to 30 goals in 18 months, but he still believe a national team call up from Nigeria is a distant reality.

” No chance for now, I won’t lie to myself about it, but in life you never say never. Anyday I am called up, I am ready to give my all for my fatherland”.

New Gent Signing Rabiu Ibrahim Praise Nigeria Legend Okocha For Tips On Dribbling

0

Gent of Belgium new signing Rabiu Ibrahim says watching former Super Eagles captain Austin Okocha helped him learn a lot about dribbling, which has helped him become the footballer that he is now.

25 year old Rabiu Ibrahim provoked memories with the Nigerian legend when he burst onto the scene in 2007 at the Under-17 World Cup in Korea, for the all conquering late coach Yemi Tella tutored side.

However, a move to Sporting Lisbon and subsequently PSV failed to give his career the necessary push he so needed at the early stage, and even a two year stint at Celtic, wasn’t productive as well.

He recovered and was close to realising his potential at fellow Scottish side Kilmarnock, when an on pitch slump in the second half of the season ended his rise.

A year later he went to AS Trencin of Slovakia, where he rediscovered and relaunched his career in two seasons with the Slovak champions, that earned him a move to Gent of Belgium this summer.

His arrival at Gent has once again brought up the issue about how similar he is to the former PSG, Fenerbahce and Bolton Wanderers star. However he is of a different opinion as he praised the former Super Eagles captain for his career rise.

” I watched Okocha a lot as a young boy growing up, I learnt a lot from him on how to dribble. My ability to pass the ball while looking at another direction is a skill I learnt from the master” He said to Owngoalnigeria.com.

” There’s more to my game now, I have added goals and assist as well, as much as I love the fun side of giving fans value for their money and time, goals can also be fun you know”.
