Ex-Nigeria Under-17s & 20s Captain Deemed Surplus To Requirement At Turkish Side

The coach of Turkish Super Lig side Istanbul Basaksehir Abdullah Avci, has informed former Nigeria Under-17s and 20s captain Musa Mohammed that he does not form part of his plans for the 2016/2017 season.

Owngoalnigeria.com gathered from a reliable source in Turkey, that the 19 year old defender who was dropped from the Nigeria Under-23s prior to the Olympics in Rio is aware he has no future at Istanbul Basaksehir.

“It’s so clear, I believe he is aware that he doesn’t have a future at Istanbul Basaksehir, he is yet to play a single minute in their pre season games, aside that he wasn’t in the list of provisional players submitted by the coach for the 2016/2017 season.” He told Owngoalnigeria.com.

The right full back who came to prominence in 2013, when he captained the Nigeria U-17 to World Cup glory has found it hard to make the grade at his Turkish side, no thanks to the presence of other established full backs in the team.

Since joining the Turkish side last summer, he has made a total of four appearances in all competition without a single appearance in the league since his transfer.

They were reports that Scottish side Celtic and French Ligue 1 side Lorient, are eyeing a move for him but nothing concrete has come out of their reported interest since it was reported months ago.

Top scorer in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Godwin Obaje says he is aware of interest in his services from Tunisian side Sfaxien, but he prefers a move to Israel.

The Wikki Tourist forward who has 14 goals in the Nigeria Professional league while admitting to knowing about Sfaxien interest, went a step further by revealing he is keen on a move to Israel due to the perseverance of the agent involved.

“Am aware of Sfaxien interest, I was told by my club chairman but there’s the interest from Israel which am keen on due to the agent involved in the deal” He told Owngoalnigeria.com.

” He sent his contact man in Nigeria to come to Bauchi, apparently not satisfied with the response he got, he came all the way from Israel to see me when we were in Abuja ahead of our tour to Spain, that has in a way turned my focus from other options at least for now”.

According to the player, a decision on his future will be made in agreement with Wikki Tourist, as he feels he owed them trust and loyalty due to their faith in him.

” I have advisers, who are handling offers on my behalf but am a Wikki Tourist player and any decision on my transfer will have to be a deal that the club agrees to, I owe them loyalty as they have done a lot for my career”.

Former Nigeria Under-17s and 20s forward Chidera Ezeh, has joined Portuguese second division side Portimonense on loan from FC Porto for the rest of the season.

He was today presented as a Portimonense player for the rest of the season during the second division side league game against Penafiel, a sign of how he has grown since last season when he had his breakthrough with the U-18s of Porto.

18 year old Ezeh, signed professional terms with the Estadio Dragao outfit last season, after spending the last two years training with the team following his exploits for Nigeria at the U-17 World Cup in 2013, which Nigeria won.

Last season, Ezeh was a revelation for the Under-18s of Porto, emerging as one of their top scorer as they romp to the title in his first season, and could have been a part of the pre season activities of the first team were it not for a surgery on his shoulders.

Comfortable as a forward or winger, he can also play from the flanks where his close dribbling skills,pace and trickery can cause havoc in the opposition half.

Former Nigeria Under-20s midfielder Monday Samuel has joined Swedish giants Helsingborgs IF on a one year,six months deal, the club have announced.

He was signed from fellow Swedish side Ostersund FK, his second club in Sweden after a one year spell with Angelholms FF. Already he has made five league appearances this season.

Samuel becomes the third signing of coach Henrik Larsson this summer, with the Nigerian expected to bolster the depth and quality of the team in the middle.

Larssson, the former Barcelona and Manchester United forward, who manages the team described the Nigerian as an exciting midfielder with fine range of passes, who will improve the quality of Helsingborg’s midfield.

22 year old Samuel trained with the coach John Obuh Under-20s of 2013, while he was a trainee at Portuguese giants Benfica, but failed to make the squad to the tournament in Turkey.

Slovak Side AS Trencin Hands Fresh Terms To Nigerian Quartet

Slovak top division side AS Trencin have handed new contracts to the Nigerian quartet of Samuel Kalu, Maduka Udeh, Aliko Bala and Kingsley Madu.

The club announced the deal via a statement on their official website, with Kingsley Madu, the most illustrious of the four players bagging a one and half year contract extension.

Madu,21, has three senior caps for Nigeria and he is presently at the Olympics with the Nigeria U-23, and his contract extension was primarily done to strengthen the Slovak side bargaining power as he is heavily linked with a move away from the club this summer.

Kalu,18, and Maduka, 19, both extended their contracts for three years after less than a year with the Slovak side with Kalu turning heads with his goals in attack, while Maduka who stands at over six feet is now an established member of the back four.

Bala,20, extended his deal by two years after banishing the injury demons that have slowed him down since joining the team last season. He has been one of the stand out forwards of the team in the early part of this season.

Okereke Knocks Out Udinese From Coppa Italia With First Professional Goal

Relatively unknown Nigerian teen forward David Okereke, scored a memorable first professional goal, to help Spezia dump Udinese out of the Coppa Italia with a 3-2 win.

Serie B side Spezia came from behind to cause one of the early upset of the Coppa Italia, with Okereke turning the game on it’s head with the third goal for Spezia.

The Nigerian moved to Spezia from Football Academy Abuja early this year, and made his first team bow towards the end of last season following a string of fine performances for their Primavera side.

Injury ended his season and limited his appearances for the first team after his debut last season. At Spezia, he is one of the three Nigerians on the books of the Italian side with Theophilus Awua and Tahir Maigini also a part of the first team.

Spezia have a working relationship with Football Academy Abuja, which was solidified by the exploits and subsequent transfer of Sadiq Umar and Nura Abdullahi to Serie A side Roma.

Nigerian Wonder-Kid Eze Scores First Goal For New Side QPR

18 year old Nigerian teen prospect Eberechi Eze who joined English Championship side QPR six days ago from Millwall, scored his first goal for his new side in a 1-5 thrashing they suffered in the hands of Southampton.

Eze, scored the game’s opening goal seven minutes into the friendly tie, which both teams used their Under-23s to prosecute, although Southampton had on parade experienced premiership stars in Jay Rodriguez and Charlie Austin.

The Nigerian fired in a low shot from a cross to stun QPR and came close to scoring twice in the game even though they lost heavily to their more illustrious opponents.

18 year old Eze signed a one year deal with QPR, but will spend most of his time with the Elite Development Team of QPR from where his progress will be monitored for promotion to the main team.

Ex- Nigeria Under-17s Trainee Edges Closer To Crystal Palace First Team After Pre Season Appearance

Former Nigeria Under-17s trainee Jason Akiotu made his first senior team appearance for Crystal Palace, coming on as a substitute in their 3-0 victory over Farnborough in their final pre season game.

Akiotu was introduced by manager Alan Pardew with 16 minutes left to play in the pre season tie, for his first senior appearance for the South London based team.

18 year old Akiotu,trained with the Nigeria Under-17 team of 2015, but wasn’t considered good enough to make the team for the World Cup in Chile, which they eventually won.

Last season he spent time with English Premiership champions Leicester City, but wasn’t offered a deal after his stay with the U-18 where he featured in some games.

Back at Crystal Palace, the left full back who is known for his overlapping forays will be a regular for their U-23s in the new formed youth league in England, where his performance could earn him a spot in the first team.

German manager Genort Rohr has been officially annouced as the coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

Owngoalnigeria.com presents terms of the German signed with the NFF to manage the Nigeria senior national team.

The German will live in Lagos but will be allowed to visit France where his family are based once every month where he will be expected to spend seven days.

He will earn $40,000 as salary every month for the duration of his two year deal but will have $30,000 added to his monthly salary if he qualifies Nigeria for the World Cup in Russia.

Rohr has a two year deal which will be renewed automatically if Nigeria secure qualification for the 2018 World Cup in Russia, but failure to qualify for the World Cup will also cause the deal to terminate.

However his deal to manage the Super Eagles, can’t be terminated during the Russia 2018 World Cup qualifiers, any attempt to do so will see him receive a compensation package that entails the NFF to continue his salary payments until the end of his deal.
