Too Expensive – Napoli Walk Out Of Deal To Sign Super Eagles Star As Replacement For Kvaratskhelia

0

Italian Serie A champions Napoli will not pursue a deal to sign Nigeria international forward Ademola Lookman as a replacement for Kvicha Kvaratskhelia who departed the club in the January transfer window, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

Head coach of Napoli Antonio Conte is a key admirer of the Nigerian who followed up his impressive season with another top notch one last term out with 20 goals and seven assists in all competitions for Atalanta.

Atalanta are open to his departure but want a fee in excess of €50m excluding add ons as they aim to make full profit from his likely exit. On the other hand Napoli consider the fee as exorbitant judging by his age which is closer to 30 than 25. Meaning he carries no resale value.

A player plus cash offer is another option, but the champions are already looking at a deal for Italian forward Federico Chiesa, who won the English Premier League title with Liverpool while on loan from Juventus last season.

27 year old Lookman who is the reigning Africa player of the year is however not short of suitors with clubs in England, Spain and also in Germany monitoring his situation at Atalanta.

Nigeria international striker Cyriel Dessers have been urged to take up the option of joining Greek side AEK Athens from Scottish side Rangers, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports

Dessers have been with the Scottish side for two seasons and has a healthy tally of 51 goals in all competitions, but still looks likely to leave the club in the summer transfer window after agreeing terms with ex Greek champions AEK Athens.

While a fee is yet to be agreed with Rangers for his transfer, the 30 year old has been told by his former fitness coach Paraskevas Polychronopoulos to make the move. He worked with Dessers at Rangers but now with newly promoted English Premier League side Leeds United.

He said: “Personally, I think it would be a very good move for Cyriel and AEK to make this transfer”, the coach said in an interview about the proposed transfer of the Scottish league top scorer.

“He is an excellent character and highly professional. A kind person, always with a smile on his face and this is something that plays an important role.

“In both his first season at Rangers and his second, he played in almost every game and that says a lot. He is always available and does not get injured.

The coach went further to explain some of the qualities of the forward , who marked his return to the Nigeria national team with a goal and assist to power them to victory at the recently concluded Unity Cup in England.

“He is a classic No.9. He may not press the opposition defence as much or hold the ball welll, but he knows how to be in the right position and with one touch send the ball into the net. This is his great gift.

“He is an unpredictable top striker and can score goals in many different ways, because he has a way of getting into key positions. He was the top scorer in Scotland and scored in all competitions with Rangers in both seasons.

“He is very experienced – 30 years old and played in the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Scotland, plus the Nigerian National Team.

“Through his time at Rangers, he learned to withstand pressure situations.

“He thrived in a team chasing the title and where there is intense pressure and criticism. He speaks many languages and that helps too.”

Agent Provide Update On Boniface’s Future At Leverkusen Following Appointment Of Erik Ten Hag

0

The agent of Nigeria international forward Victor Boniface has provided an update on his future at Bayer Leverkusen following the appointment of Erik Ten Hag as the new coach of the team.

Ten Hag replaced Xabi Alonso who left for Real Madrid and his departure has led to talks of an exit for Boniface, who was among the his first signings when he took over as coach and was key to the team winning the league and Cup two seasons ago by staying unbeaten all through their domestic games.

Although Alonso was at the helm when he had a failed transfer to Al-Nassr of Saudi Arabia in January, the coach was however quick to bring him back into the fold after the entire drama ended up with his staying.

Reports say he is still the most likeliest to leave after the exit of Florian Wirtz who joined Liverpool for a club record deal. Boniface is seen as someone who is surplus to requirements after losing his spot in the final games of last season, and Atta Aneke sort to clear the air on his client’s future.

“Victor ended the season after his trip to the national team. He is now on holiday, will train hard during his holiday and then come back for pre-season training.

“There is a new coach, a new constellation, but still a very good team that is playing in the Champions League again. Victor and I have never discussed a transfer. We have not spoken to any other club. At the moment, there are no plans to leave Leverkusen. Of course, you never know in football, but Victor loves playing for Leverkusen”, he was quoted as saying by German publication Bild.
