PSL Legend Tells Kaizer Chiefs Not To Sign Super Eagles First Choice Goalkeeper – He Lacks The Basics

0

Former Premier Soccer League (PSL) star Junior Khanye has urged Kaizer Chiefs not to Nigeria and Chippa United goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali in the summer when the transfer window opens, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

Nwabali who is the first choice goalkeeper of the senior national team of Nigeria, and performed excellently well at the last Africa Cup of Nations is widely expected to leave Chippa United in the summer.

He is widely linked with a move to League giants Kaizer Chiefs who are on the lookout for a shot stopper, and Nwabali has also made it known that he is joining Chiefs will be a dream come true for him.

Speaking on the player’s desire to make the move, Khanye warned the club against signing the 28 year old Nigerian saying he isn’t at the level required to play at the club, not minding the fact that he is a fully established international with Nigeria.

“I think the fact that he is a Nigerian international as first-choice goalkeeper can be blinding because Nigeria have a superior team that covers him sometimes,” Khanye said, as quoted by iDiski Times.

“But this guy, when I watch and observe him, he gives away a lot of goals, especially high balls. They don’t beat him at the bottom, but take advantage of his height.

“I mean, sometimes he’ll get a ball and then spill it; he does high school mistakes. So to answer you, if he’s suitable for Chiefs, I know they can’t bring Khune back, but can they get a talented goalkeeper who can also play with his feet? A good stopper with good reflexes, talented and plays with his feet. I’m talking about a star goalkeeper.

“They must go do their research, and I don’t think I see anyone in the Betway Premiership now. So no, I don’t think he’s a good goalkeeper for Kaizer Chiefs because he didn’t only make a blunder in this game (against Downs),” Khanye added.

The former winger believed that there are better alternatives to the Nigerian and challenged the technical department of Chiefs to do a proper research and analysis before any decision.

“I know the technical team might say something different, and I think someone is selling this guy. I mean, even if you look at the second goal (against Mamelodi Sundowns), he was supposed to handle that ball; he’s taller than everyone; he can probably touch the crossbar without jumping,” Khanye stated.

“For me, he can’t do basics. Chiefs, with the crisis they have, they can get a proper scout to look for a proper goalkeeper,” he concluded.

U20 AFCON – Flying Eagles Force Kenya To Draw In Front Of Super Eagles Coach Eric Chelle

0

The Nigeria U20 team secured their passage to the next round of the ongoing CAF U20 AFCON with a hard fought 2-2 draw against Kenya in their final group game, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

Kenya took an early lead when Nigerian defender Emmanuel Chukwu handled the ball in the box and after a VAR review a penalty was awarded, which Kévin Wangaya Injehu converted after six minutes.

Their lead lasted for only eight minutes with Kparobo Arierhi leveling with a fine finish following good work by Simon Cletus, as his well weighted pass met the striker with the easiest of finishes in the box.

Nigeria failed to build on the momentum of drawing level and were soon behind when an unmarked William Gitamu stole in at the far post to stab home a well delivered free kick. Once again Nigeria responded this time around from the spot with captain Daniel Bameyi sending the goalkeeper the wrong way.

Bameyi stepped to dispatch the spot kick awarded to Nigeria after a foul on substitute Rickson Mendous. The game ended in a stalemate but also secured Nigeria’s passage to the next round as they finished second behind group winners Morocco.

Head coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Eric Chelle was among the spectators who watched the game following his arrival in Egypt yesterday.

One time Super Eagles invitee Noah Sarenren-Bazee has opened up on how he missed out on a chance of becoming a star with the senior national team of Nigeria following his decision to pledge his international allegiance to Nigeria ahead of Germany, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

Born in Germany to parents of Nigerian descent, the now 28 year old who plays in the German third division for Arminia Bielefeld was called up to the Super Eagles squad for the friendly game against Senegal in 2017 but missed out due to injury, while on club duty with Hannover.

“He will be treated by us and maybe he can play on Monday. ”

He suffered repeated injury setbacks and after four years at Augsburg where he made just 31 appearances he was let loose leading to his decision to start afresh with Arminia Bielefeld.

” It’s a fresh start for me now. I feel really good with my body and can now fully trust myself in all situations. I could have been a star with the Nigerian team after my decision to commit to Nigeria at 22. It didn’t work out and I have to take it with the hope that I have a good career to reflect on”, Bazee told OwnGoalNigeria.com.

0

Former coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Jose Peseiro has been sacked as the coach of Egyptian side Zamalek according to an announcement by the club.

His outstanding salary is said to be around a total of $210,000, which is equivalent to ten and a half million Egyptian pounds, and it was discussed between all parties involved before the decision to part ways was reached after yesterday’s meeting.

It was the first job of Peseiro since leading the Super Eagles to the final of the last AFCON, where they were defeated by host Cote d’Ivoire 1-2 in the final.

Real Sociedad have made a u-turn on the future of Nigeria international forward Sadiq Umar who is having a splendid time on loan to fellow LaLiga side Valencia, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

He joined Valencia in the January transfer window and has scored five goals in 13 games since his move, Including a stunning back heel goal which was voted as the goal of the month in the LaLiga.

Valencia hold an option of making the deal permanent at the end of the loan, but before they can trigger that option they will need to reach a compromise from Sociedad, who have now decided against any imminent departure of the 28 year old with coach Imanol Alguacil leaving the club at the end of the season.

The long serving coach was largely responsible for the limited game time the Nigerian got at the club after his return from an ACL surgery. He will be replaced by one of his assistants in Sergio Francisco who has demanded for Sadiq to be a part of his team at least for pre season before a decision is taken.

His demand has slowed down the plans of Valencia who have been pushing for the player to agree to a permanent deal at the end of this season, and also bring to a half plans by an unnamed Qatari side who are willing to pay his €30m release clause.

NFF Waiting On FIFA Clearance For Werder Bremen Star To Be Part Of Super Eagles Squad For Unity Cup

0

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is demanding that world football governing body FIFA give clearance before any decision on the inclusion on Felix Agu in the Super Eagles squad for Unity Cup can be taken, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

Agu is seen by the new coach of the Nigerian team Eric Chelle as someone who can help provide options in the full back positions owing to his performances in the Bundesliga for Werder Bremen this season.

Courted by former coach of the Nigerian team Gernot Rohr in 2019, he turned down the approach and accepted an invitation to play for Germany U21, and played in two friendly games against Greece and Spain respectively.

At 25 he has now pledged his international future to Nigeria after speaking with Chelle, who wants him to be a part of the team for the upcoming Unity Cup tournament in England where they will up against Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica and Ghana who will be their first opponent on the 28th of May.

However the NFF are saying they need to get a clearance from FIFA before he is included in the squad for the tournament, despite the fact that he can’t be tied to any national team by playing in an age grade friendly.

A source said the situation is similar to that of Alex Iwobi before his senior debut for Nigeria, with FIFA sending a clearance despite the fact that he played for England U19 in a friendly game.

We can also report that players like Stanley Nwabali, William Troost-Ekong and Maduka Okoye were not listed, in addition to the duo of Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen whom we earlier reported won’t be in the squad due to club commitments.

Inter vs Barcelona, May 6

The show put on by Lamine Yamal and the fantastic efficiency of Denzel Dumfries led to a 3-3 draw in the first leg, one of the season’s best matches. But now the teams are starting from scratch, as the duel score is tied. This game could also be very high-scoring, so it’s unlikely that the coaches will reinvent their tactics. Simone Inzaghi and Hansi Flick are constrained by time, player fatigue, and squad issues.

Barcelona lost Jules Koundé, but there’s hope that Alejandro Balde(whose absence was strongly felt in the duel with Dumfries) andRobert Lewandowski might return. Marc-André ter Stegen is alreadyfit and could replace Wojciech Szczęsny, who performed disappointingly. Inter have Benjamin Pavard injured, Lautaro Martínez is unlikely to feature, and although Marcus Thuram scored against Barça, he’s clearly not at his best due to a recent injury.

Paris Saint-Germain vs Arsenal, 7 May

In the first match, Arsenal outperformed the Parisians in terms of xG, but experts agreed: the visitors deserved the win, as Paris Saint-Germain, an official partner of 1xBet, controlled most of the game.

Arsenal is known for its patience and ability to make the most of set pieces. Compared to the first clash, the squad situation should improve in Gunnersfavor: Thomas Partey returns from suspension, while the brilliant Ousmane Dembélé, who has scored 25 goals in 2025, may miss the second leg. PSG previously lost at home to Liverpool and almost let a 4-goal advantage in their duel with Aston Villa. Thus, in this struggle, nothing has been decided yet.

Odds: W1 – 2.162, Х – 3.74, W2 – 3.44

Barcelona vs Real Madrid, May 11

The decisive struggle in the La Liga title race. FC Barcelona, officialpartner of 1xBet, has beaten Real Madrid in all three matches this season, and now even a draw would be enough for Blaugranas — just like it was in the regular time of El Clásico in the Copa del Rey final. Barça will play this match 5 days after facing Inter, so the team should have sufficient time to recover.

Real may struggle to capitalize on its supposed freshness advantage. Due to injuries to Éder Militão, Dani Carvajal, David Alaba, AntonioRüdiger, and Ferland Mendy, Los Blancos are left with almost nodefenders. Eduardo Camavinga is also in the infirmary. Things are far from perfect in attack: Viníciuseffectiveness in recent months has been low, while Rodrygo has been inconsistent.

Odds: W1 – 1.905, Х – 4.37, W2 – 3.785
