Do All You Can To Keep Him – Club Legend Tells New Coach To Ensure That Out Of Contract Super Eagles Star Stays

0

The new coach of newly promoted English Premier League side Steve Cooper has been told to do whatever it takes to ensure that Nigeria international midfielder Wilfred Ndidi extends his contract at the club, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

Ndidi is now a free agent following the expiration of his contract at the end of last month, and talks over an extension haven’t progressed as expected with the 27 year old who has been at the club since 2017.

Reports emerged that he is considering other options as the talks drag on, but in the words of ex Leicester City defender Robert Huth  who was a key player in the team that shock the world to win the league in 2015, the club should be keen on keeping Ndidi.

Recent reports suggest that he will sign a fresh three year deal at the club. Huth believe it will be the right move to take even though it could cost the club more money than they think.

He stated: “I love Wilf, I think he’s a fantastic player. He came in when I was in my last two years at Leicester, as a young kid, and I’ve seen him develop into what I would call a proper midfielder. Box to box, really talented. He kind of links the attack to the defence, he’s so important for us.”

“I would definitely re-sign him because he’s still only 27, he knows the club and he’s played in the Premier League before.

“It’s going to be a cost thing – but how much is it going to be to replace him? He’s valuable not only on the pitch, but also a fantastic character off it. He fits in, he’s one of those bubbly guys that mingles with everyone. I think he’s so important to have in the club.

“Hopefully Leicester can get something done with him, but money talks at the end of the day. If there’s something better on the table for Wilf then fair play to him and we wish him all the best. But at the moment there’s still hope.”

Huth was speaking to www.gambling.com.

Super Eagles AFCON Star Told He Can Leave After Getting Limited Game Time Last Season

0

One of the stars of the senior national team of Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations have been told he can leave the club before the end of the ongoing summer transfer window, OwnGoalNigeria.com understands.

Nigeria went all the way to the final of the tournament before losing 1-2 to the host Cote d’Ivoire, it was their best performance at the tournament since they last won it in 2013.

One of the players who was key in that run to the final playing in all games of the tournament was Brentford midfielder Frank Onyeka. Who has 25 caps for the senior national team of Nigeria.

At Brentford the door has been left open for his exit according to The Athletic saying that though the club still see him as an important squad member, they are aware that the limited game time he endured in the second half of last season makes an alternative option appealing.

Brentford will want a fee in the region of £8.5m, the same amount they paid to Danish side FC Midtjylland for his signing in 2021. He presently has a contract until 2027 with an extra year option according to Adam Leventhal who wrote the story.

Last season he made a total of 26 appearances in the league with 11 starts but upon his return from a largely impressive tournament with Nigeria at the AFCON he struggled to get back into the team.
