Juventus Vs Napoli

0

Napoli faces Juventus at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona in a derby match from the 27th round of the Serie A. It’s a good time to offer you our preview for it in these best free football tips for today. Lets get to work!

Napoli are still champions of Italy, but this season was a huge disappointment for them. The Azzurri are pretty mediocre since the beginning of the campaign. The team is 9th in the standings with 40 points won and 29 points behind the leader Inter Milan. Napoli changed managers twice this season and they still cant find themselves when it comes to performance. The champions have won just 11 of their 26 games in the league.

Last weekend Napoli at least got back to winning. Francesco Calzonas team faced Sassuolo away from home and secured a stunning 6-1 win at the MAPEI Stadium. It was probably Napolis best match since the beginning of the season. Victor Osimhen scored a hattrick for the visitors while Kvaratskhelia also reminded for himself with a brace. Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia also recorded assists which made them the heroes of the game.

Since arriving in Naples, Napolis new coach Francesco Calzona didnt change the teams formation. He also prefers to use a 4-3-3 formation with Kvaratskhelia and Politano supporting Victor Osimhen in attack. Against Juve he could decide to bring Piotr Zielinski and Leander Dendoncker in the line-up while Juan Jesus could start in the defense.

What Napoli needs in the last few months of the season is more confidence. The team struggled a lot, but the arrival of the new head coach brought some positive change. Soon Napoli will face Barcelona in the Champions League as well so their season is not over – they can still do more.

Juventus were hoping to win the Serie A again, but it seems that they will have to wait for the next season to do it. The Bianconeri were moving close to the leader Inter, but right now they are 12 points behind the Nerazzurri. Obviously the title race is over now, but Juve will try to keep the second place at least.

The main reason for the gap between Inter and Juventus is Juves bad form lately. Massimiliano Allegri’s team have won just one of its last five matches in the Serie A – against Frosinone last weekend. At the same time Inter kept winning their games which moved them very close to the Scudetto.

Last weekend Juventus hosted Frosinone and celebrated a 3-2 win at the Allianz Stadium. Dusan Vlahovic scored a brace for the hosts while Daniele Rugani scored the decisive winning goal in the 95th minute. The Old Lady was close to making another mistake here, but luckily Rugani scored the winner after an assist from Vlahovic.

Just as expected, Max Allegri was not happy with his team’s performance against Frosinone. Thats why he could make some changes in his starting eleven. Timothy Weah is one of the players who can refresh the line-up while Carlos Alcaraz is an interesting option for the midfield. The young Argentinian played as a substitute against Frosinone when he replaced Adrien Rabiot.

Dusan Vlahovic is finally arriving this season for Juventus. The Serbian striker has scored 15 league goals and he’s proving to be a valuable asset for the club. His partnership with Federico Chiesa is developing well and these two players can be an important part of Juves future.

Thats the best free football tips for today for the Serie A derby between Napoli and Juventus at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. Napoli impressed in their last game but  Juve are a dangerous opponent.

FG Orders NFF To Extend Peseiro’s Contract As Super Eagles Coach, Stop His Unveiling By Algeria

0

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has been ordered to make the head coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Jose Peseiro remain in his post, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

According to Al-Hayat, per Awras, Peseiro has accepted the offer put forward by the Algerian Football Federation (FAF), who are on the hunt for a new man to lead its national team forward after parting ways with Djamel Belmadi.

The publication said he has already sent his acceptance letter in writing to the president of the Algerian FA (FAF) Walid Sadi, and an announcement per the report will be made public next week when his contract with the NFF would have totally elasped.

Upon hearing the news, the minister for sports senator John Enoh swung into action and wondered why the coach who led the team to their best position at the Africa Cup of Nations will be allowed to go.

He instructed the NFF to improve the offer made to the coach to $70,000 a month as opposed to the $50,00 he was offered for his extension, the same as the salary he was on before taking the Super Eagles to the final of the Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire, where they lost 1-2 to the host in the final.

Peseiro has been told to put on hold his plans to travel to Algeria with a new proposal set to be forwarded to him for his approval. Meanwhile it could open the door for Swiss coach Vladimir Petkovic, who was their top choice for the job to be named as the coach.

According to reports after initially failing to meet up with the 48 hours deadline he was given to accept the job, the lawyer of the coach called the FA president at the expiration of the deadline to say his client is willing to take up the job.

With Peseiro now having second thoughts he Petkovic will likely be named as the new coach of the Algeria national team, while Peseiro consider other options top of which is to remain as the coach of the Super Eagles.

4 of the Most Memorable Moments in AFCON History

0

Most people consider the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) the most prestigious tournament in Africa. Why wouldn’t they, considering that the tournament is the biggest in Africa and attracts billions of fans from all around the globe? Moreover, it treats its enthusiasts to illustrious moments, exceptional players, and shocking events.

In fact, history has it that predicting AFCON matches has always been challenging, considering the usually intricate nature of the matches. So, whether you are just spectating or want to predict the outcomes on a serious level at 888bet in Tanzania, there are some notable moments in AFCON history worth noting.

Dive in for more!

1. Nigeria’s Humiliating Defeat, Courtesy of Madagascar

The Super Eagles rank with the best teams in Africa, and rightly so. This fantastic team has bagged 15 AFCON medals, with three gold trophies on the list. All that is courtesy of outstanding players who’ve always made Nigeria proud, from Sunday Oliseh to Alex Iwobi.

But here’s something surprising. Despite being a super team, the Super Eagles clashed with Madagascar in 2019 and lost! That is despite Madagascar’s national team being ranked 24th in AFCON 2024’s list of the best teams. Needless to say, Nigerians were very disappointed.

2. Cameroon vs. Cote d’Ivoire’s Marathon Penalty Shootout

During a knockout game, one team must win. If that doesn’t happen within the allocated 90 minutes and extra time, the contestants must battle it out in penalty shootouts. Whichever team scores the most penalties proceeds to the next stage. Remember, penalty shootouts rarely surpass the usual five takes, except for the peculiar case between Cameroon and Ivory Coast.

Ivory Coast went head-to-head with Cameroon in 2006, and upon the last whistle, the score was even. So, shootouts began. Contrary to what fans are used to, Cameroon and Ivory Coast became a game of endurance and shocked the entire world. In total, 23 shots were taken, which is an enormous number.

3. Zambia’s Unexpected AFCON Triumph

Zambia is ranked as the 18th-best team in AFCON. It’s one spot below and above Gabon and Uganda, respectively. You wouldn’t expect such a team to win the AFCON, right? Well, prepare to be surprised. In 2012, Zambia went home with the AFCON trophy.

2012 was a good year for Zambia and its coach, Herve Renard. Unfortunately, that was the first and last time Zambia won AFCON. Its triumph materialized in penalty shootouts, where Zambia’s players narrowly defeated Ivory Coast 8-7.

4. Mauritania’s National Anthem Fiasco

Mauritania adopted its first national anthem in 1960 after securing its independence from France after a bloody resistance. But there was one problem. Mauritanians found their first national anthem impossible since it had a complex rhythm that made singing a nightmare. Finally, in late 2017, the Mauritanian National Assembly switched to a better anthem.

Sadly, few people outside Mauritania realized this country had changed its terrible national anthem. That is reflected in AFCON 2022 when tournament organizers played the wrong national anthem. The worst part is that this error occurred thrice, and Mauritanian players were forced to sit through the wrong anthems thrice. It was an utter disaster.

Summary

AFCON always treats football fans to outstanding events, as evidenced by the moments revisited here. And there are plenty that you, an AFCON fan, should remember, from Madagascar annihilating the Super Eagles to Mauritania listening to officials play the wrong national anthem three times in a row.

To avoid missing such events, don’t forget to watch future AFCON competitions and tournaments. It’s easy now. You can watch on the go using your phone or PC, courtesy of live broadcasting channels like CAF TV.

Here’s Why Many Nations Dream of Hosting AFCON

0

AFCON is one of Africa’s most prestigious football tournamentsand occurs every two years. Besides being incredibly prestigious, this tournament has positively affected hosting countries in several ways.

For starters, AFCON leads to the growth of the hospitality industry as most hotels are always full during the football tournament. In fact, the impact further extends to influential sports gambling sites like bettors.co.ke

Today, we will focus on the perks that AFCON offers hosting countries. Dig in and enjoy!

Increased Hotel Bookings

When a country hosts AFCON, one of those beneficiary sectors is the hotel industry. Since the host country always wants to make every participating country and its team feel comfortable, every effort is put into making the hotels meet the luxury needs of their visitors.

Here, a particular standard is set and cannot be compromised whatsoever. With all the amenities, foreigners flock to these hotels in large numbers, increasing bookings multifold. That, in turn, leads to a massive increase in revenues for the hotel owners and the host country.

Enhanced Resort Revival

Hosting AFCON allows foreigners to witness football tournaments on the field, showcasing its tourism and culture to the world. That means most resorts will be full, thanks to the increased number of foreigners in the host country.

While at the resort, foreigners can tour different places within the country and have fun. In addition, these foreigners get entertained as they can interact with the locals and learn about other cultures.

Increases Football Infrastructure Development

Since AFCON is a global event, the hosting country must develop its football infrastructure to exceptional standards. For instance, all the roads leading to the stadiums where the event will occur must be tarmacked or renovated. The hospitals around the stadiums also get a facelift to meet the needs of football fans who might get ill during the tournament.

In addition, the stadiums where the tournaments will take place have to be world-class to meet the requirements set by the Confederation of African Football (CAF). These developments must be in place three years before the tournament commences. If there are dilapidated hotels, new ones must be constructed to meet the accommodation needs of foreigners. An investment of that caliber is bound to positively impact the hosting country’s real estate sector.

Increased Growth in the Transport sector

The transport sector is also a great beneficiary of hosting AFCON. That is because spectators from different parts of the country must be ferried to the stadium to witness live matches. Whether they opt to use public means of transport or private means such as Uber, note that the owners of those vehicles will gain massively from the revenues collected. That significantly helps grow the transport sector.

Increases Security and Safety

The hosting country has to guarantee the safety of both AFCON fans and players. As a result, the hosting country steps up its security measures to ensure that everyone is safe before, during, and after the AFCON tournament.

From enhancing crowd management protocols to collaborating with law enforcement agencies, there are many security measures that the host country takes to optimize the safety of everyone involved in making AFCON a success. With these robust security measures, players and fans can have peace of mind as the football tournament continues.

Wrap Up

Hosting AFCON comes with many perks. Many hosts have reaped them, including Ivory Coast, which hosted AFCON 2023. The benefits are endless, from increasing revenues collected by the hotel industry to improving security in the country. As a result, hosting AFCON is the dream of most African countries. If your country will host the next AFCON, trust that you will enjoy the benefits mentioned here.

Peseiro Quits As Super Eagles Coach, Agrees Deal To Take Charge Of African Football Giants

0

The coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Jose Peseiro will tomorrow officially quit his role with the team when his deal with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) expires, OwnGoalNigeria.comunderstands.

Peseiro met the target of getting to the semi final of the Africa Cup of Nations for him to earn an extension but the coach, whose team lost 1-2 to the host Cote d’Ivoire in the final has declined to trigger the option of extending his deal with the team.

Their run to the final of the tournament meant a host of teams around Africa sounded out the Portuguese on the availability of having him as their head coach, and he appears to have finally said yes to one of his suitors.

Swiss coach Vladimir Petkovic was their top choice for the job according to reports but after initially failing to meet up with the 48 hours deadline he was given to accept the job, the lawyer of the coach called the FA president at the expiration of the deadline to say his client is willing to take up the job.

It is now left for the FA to either make a U-Turn in offering the job to Peseiro or revert to their initial plan of handing it to Petkovic who still remains their first choice according to Awras.

You Are A Disappointment – Longhi Blast Underperforming Super Eagles Ace Signed For Big Money In The Summer

0

Ace Italian journalist Bruno Longhi has lashed out at Nigeria international winger Samuel Chukwueze who has failed to live up to the huge money spent by AC Milan to sign him from Villarreal in the summer, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

Chukwueze was Milan’s most expensive signing in the summer transfer window but he hasn’t hit the same height that made the club price him from Villarreal for a fee in the region of over €20m, after his tally of 13 goals and 11 assists last season.

At AC Milan he has two goals and one assists in all competitions from 21 games, a poor return which has seen him lost his spot to American winger Christian Pulisic. The coach of the team Stefano Pioli explained in an interview over the weekend.

“They have the same characteristics. Pulisic scores goals, assists and works. Chukwueze must score goals, assists and work,” Pioli stated.

While defending the coach, Longhi who covers the Milan side extensively says the below expectation performance of the team has a lot to do with the new signings, who has failed to live up to expectations, and he specifically mentioned Chukwueze as a disappointment.

“Pioli has often been criticized, but – from my point of view – he has suffered betrayals from the summer transfer market, which have been widely discussed”, he told Milan News.

“Pulisic and Loftus Cheek certainly have international experience, but their performance is too inconsistent. The same goes for Reijnders: some matches are very good, others too light and dull. As for Chukuewze, he has largely disappointed all expectations”.

Agent Breaks The Ice On International Future Of Fiorentina Teen Star Defender Wanted By Nigeria And Italy

0

The agent of highly rated Fiorentina defender Michael Kayode has provided a clear picture on where his international future lies with the 19 year old wanted by both Nigeria and Italy, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

Kayode stole the show over the weekend with a man of the match performance for Fiorentina in their 2-1 win over Lazio by scoring the leveler and winning the penalty that led to the winner for his team, who are now 6th on the Serie A log.

“We spoke after the game. I am happy for Mike because he deserves it,” Andrea Ritorni, who is part of the defender’s entourage, told RadioFirenzeViola.

“He had a bad injury that forced him out of action for a while and it wasn’t easy to be involved in the group again. Now I can say he is 100% fit. He feels well physically and mentally.”

Explaining the international future of the teen star who is reportedly on the radar of top teams in Europe, the representative reveals it firmly lies with Italy where he has been a youth international and he was even watched by Marco Domenichini, the assistant to the coach of the Italian national team Luciano Spalletti.

“I am happy Kayo performed well in front of Spalletti’s assistant. He has gained personality, he almost looks like a veteran,” said his agent.

“A call from the national team would be the missing piece. Michael dreams of his call every day.”

Why Super Eagles Played Defensive Formation At AFCON – Peseiro Replies Former Super Eagles Midfielder

0

The coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Jose Peseiro has revealed the reason why his team played in a formation that is more defensive at the recently concluded Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

Peseiro used the 4-4-2 formation in all of the games he handled the team prior to the tournament, but at the tournament where they went all the way to the final before losing 1-2 to the host, the team played in two formations which was 4-3-3 in the opening game and 3-4-3 for the rest of their games.

It drew lots of criticisms from the ever demanding football loving populace of Nigeria, with many saying the approach didn’t make proper use of the avalanche of talented forwards available to the coach at the tournament.

One of those who was very critical of the approach is former Super Eagles midfielder Seyi Olofinjana, who said despite the team progressing to the final, the formation they used isn’t one that Nigeria is known for.

” But is that what the team want to play at the world cup or after the AFCON, I think that is not our style of football, I have been a member of the national team from under 17 to super eagles I can tell for a fact that the team won’t adapt to that style of football and I think that is not what we want for the country”, the midfielder who had 55 caps for Nigeria said.

Peseiro defended the reason behind the switch in formation in an interview with GoalFrance monitored by our editorial team, he cited the need to be more assured and secured in defence as the main key behind the switch of formation.

“ In our preparation for this tournament, I chose a different way to play. With my staff, we realized that we were playing offensively in our 4-4-2 system, that we were creating a lot of chances but that we were conceding avoidable goals on semi-chances. I felt that our team needed more solidity. More confidence in our defensive work and our organization”, he explained.

’So I chose differently. We opted for 4-3-3 and 3-4-3 systems. We started working on these two diagrams in Abu Dhabi during our internship. And the guys very quickly understood what we wanted to do”, he stated further.

“From the first match against Equatorial Guinea, even if we didn’t win, it bore fruit. They put into practice what we had worked on. Everyone got into tune, following the offensive and defensive instructions to the letter. Unfortunately, we didn’t have time to work on the offensive aspect a little more. Defensively, there was nothing to say. The guys understood everything well”.

He however admitted that the formation failed to work in the 1-2 defeat to the host largely due to the pressure of the game which led to two costly errors.

”We were perfect until the final, where unfortunately two mistakes cost us dearly. And once again, I put it down to pressure. In 3-4-3, we played very well and it was best suited to our team. With wingers who help our attackers, and a 3-man defense which maintains our balance. And I told them that this system will allow us not to concede too many goals and to score one.

“This is what we did in the final at the start, by scoring first. It was very hard to create chances against us. But once again, offensively, we weren’t 100% of what we could do. I would say only 70%. We would have needed a little more time to be completely up to speed with this plan”, he concluded.
