The Best Players Don’t Get Invited – Super Eagles Star Laments Peseiro’s Call Up For Games

0

Head coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Jose Peseiro has been accused of not calling up the best available players since he took over as coach of the team last year, OGN reports.

Peseiro is highly unlikely to stay in his role as coach of the team with his one year deal set to run out in June and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) not keen on extending the deal .

Reacting to the news around his possible departure, a player in the team who reached out to OGN expressed his sadness at the uncertainty over the future of the coach as many of the players have a whole lot of admiration for the Portuguese.

He however said the one thing the players complained about a lot is the reason behind the call up of some players, which he said are questionable and usually dominates discussion when the players gather to have a talk.

” He is loved by the players a lot. His departure won’t make a lot of the players happy but as professionals we have been trained to work with who is in charge for the good of the team”, he said.

” The only thing I know we discussed that is ill about the coach is the questionable call ups given to some players. As players we do talk about it in our spare time. Some players in the team don’t deserve to be there ahead of some”, he stated.

Borrusia Dortmund Latest Team To Join The Race To Sign Nigerian Striker With 19 Goals In 19 Games This Season

0

German Bundesliga side Borrusia Dortmund has join the queue of teams interested in signing Nigerian striker Gift Orban, OGN can exclusively reveal.

Scouts from a host of clubs were at the Jan Breydel Stadium on Saturday and saw the Nigerian increased his goal count for Gent to 19 goals in 19 games with a hattrick against Cercle Brugge. An astonishing return for the 20 year old who only joined the Belgium side in January.

Reports has it that scouts of Borrusia Monchengladbach were in the stands for Orban’s teammate Hugo Cuypers while scouts from Ligue 1 side Lille, English giants Manchester Utd, Inter Milan, Tottenham Hotspur, Sevilla and Borrusia Dortmund came to run the rule on Orban.

This is coming despite reports suggesting that Lille are the front runners for his signature, with talks already held with his representatives on a deal that could be as high as €30m this summer.

A decision will be made on his future in around two weeks time, when the Belgium league playoff would have ended. Any transfer will see his former side Stabæk get 10% from the fee.

NFF Shortlist Five Coaches As Potential Replacement For Super Eagles Coach Jose Peseiro

0

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) appears to have made up their mind on the future of Jose Peseiro as the coach of the senior national team of Nigeria, OGN can exclusively reveal.

Peseiro’s contract will run out in June and per what we gathered there has been no talks about extending the deal which will expire after the final rounds of games in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

From all indications, the games against Sierra Leone and Sao Tome and Principe respectively will likely be his final set of games as coach of the team, and as we exclusively reported Salisu Yusuf will take over as interim coach.

There is no plan to give him the job permanently as already five coaches have been shortlisted as potential replacements for the Portuguese. Sources said the list includes two foreign based coaches and three Nigerians.

Plans are also underway on how to clear the outstanding salaries of the coach before the engagement of another substantive coach and it’s why the decision to put Yusuf in interim capacity was made by the football house.

Who will be the top scorer in the Nigerian Premier League 2022/2023

0

The group stage of the strongest football championship in Nigeria is coming to an end and very soon it will be determined who will go down in class and who will play in the championship group. In addition to the fight for the title, there is a lot of interest in the question of the top scorer in the Nigerian Premier League.

Four performers are competing for the title of top scorer in the Nigerian elite football championship, namely: Robert Christian Mizo (Baelsa United), Chukwuemeka Obioma (Enyimba), Musa Usman (Doma United) and David Okoromi (Niger Tornados). If you are fond of African football and want to bet on Nigerian and other championships, then we recommend downloading mostbet apk android.

Robert Christian Mizo

The Nigerian striker is having a good season and has already scored 8 goals in 16 matches. In this case, all the goals were from the game. Robert scored once at the gates of Dakkada (twice), Vikki (twice), Niger Tornados, Rivers United FC and Abia Warriors (twice). It is worth noting that Baelsa United, played by Mizo, after 17 rounds was on the seventh line in group “B”. That is, the talented forward has one match left to play in the current Premier League season.

In the final round of the group stage, Robert will play against Niger Tornados. The forward of Baelsa United knows how to score against this team and will be able to excel. However, it will be very difficult to win the goalscoring race against rivals who will be selected for the championship group. Although the Nigerian still has a chance to win an individual award.
Chukwuemeka Obioma
During his career, the 24-year-old striker of the Enyimba football club managed to hold 73 fights, in which he scored 25 times at the opponents’ goal. This season, Chukwuemeke managed to play only six matches, because the player missed most of the season due to injuries. At the same time, Obioma managed to score six goals, two of which were from the penalty spot. Having distinguished himself once with Niger Tornados, Nasarawa and Shooting, Emeka scored a hat-trick in the battle with Gombe.

After 17 rounds, Enyimba occupied the second line and had excellent chances of reaching the champion group. So Chukwuemeke will still have enough matches ahead of them to get ahead of the competition in the title race. At the same time, it is extremely important that Obioma does not get injured. If the attacker from the city of Aba has no health problems, then the player will be able to get a personal reward.

Musa Usman
The Dom United forward has made 13 appearances this season and scored six goals, two of them from penalties. It is worth noting that since 2019, the player has played for Gombe and scored five goals in 12 battles. For the new team, Musa was able to improve the previous achievement. After scoring doubles with Rivers United FC and Vikki, Usman signed once against Abia Warriors and Niger Tornados. This was done by an African in the period from early February to mid-April.

After 16 rounds in Group B, Doma United were third in the standings and had a good chance of progressing further. So Usman should still have opportunities to excel in the opponents’ goal and improve individual statistics. In addition, this season, Musa began to regularly receive a lot of playing time and use it properly.

David Okoromi
David has played 15 matches this season and scored 6 goals (all goals from the game). Forward Niger Tornados each scored Vikki (twice), Dakkade (twice), Baelsa United and Doma United. Okoromi’s scoring percentage is below average, but the African plays well for the team and is considered one of the key players in the Tornado. At the same time, given the position of the club, this performer is unlikely to be able to compete for the title of top scorer.

The Niger Tornados will not be in the Champions group, which means that Okoromi will have to play with Baelsa United and this season will end for him. So even in the top three most productive players in the Nigerian Premier League, David is unlikely to be.

Our forecast

Robert Christian Mizo and David Okoromi will soon finish their performances in the championship. So these players can most likely be excluded from the scorer race. Chukwuemeka Obimo and Musa Usman are likely to fight for the individual title. Given the form and performance of the team, it is more likely that the title of the main scorer of the Nigerian Premier League will go to Emeka.

CAF Knocks Out Abuja Stadium, Approves Uyo Stadium For Super Eagles AFCON Qualifiers

0

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has released the list of approved stadiums for the final rounds of the qualifiers for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, OGN reports.

In a sheet made available to our editorial team, the Moshood Abiola stadium where the Super Eagles have played their last three home games including two in the AFCON qualifiers wasn’t among the stadiums approved.

CAF instead approved only the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo as the ground for the senior national team of Nigeria, who will be rounding up their qualifiers with a game against Sao Tome and Principe at home.

Players of the senior national team of Nigeria will no doubt see this news as a welcome development as they have several complaints about the bad playing surface of the stadium in Abuja.

Despite their reservations about the pitch in Abuja, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) insisted on Abuja as the home ground of the team. Even coach of the team Jose Peseiro made a case for the stadium in Uyo but the NFF paid deaf ears to his cries.

However with the latest decision by CAF they will now be forced to return back to Uyo, where the Super Eagles enjoyed a good run at home during the qualifiers for the 2018 World Cup and the 2019 AFCON.

FC Porto Favourite To Sign Nigeria U17 Striker As Agreement With Nigerian Academy Draws Near

0

The exit of the U17 team of Nigeria from the U17 Africa Cup of Nations appears not to have any direct implication on the future of some of the players in the team, OGN can exclusively reveal.

Nigeria failed to make it to the World Cup by finishing outside the top four in the tournament following a 1-2 loss to Burkina Faso in the quarter final.

It was projected that the failure to make it to the World Cup will have adverse effects on the growth of the players as they will miss out on the chance of impressing top teams in the world at the global stage. Nigeria is the most successful team in the history of the tournament with five titles.

For now we gathered that some players in the team are already close to signing for top teams in Europe with top striker Abdullahi Abubakar leading the way.

Abubakar scored two goals at the tournament despite the failure of his team and that return has put him on the wish list of some teams in Europe top of which is Portuguese side FC Porto.

He is expected to join Portuguese side FC in the summer. Talks are already advanced with his local team Jega United of Kebbi State, and we gathered the team is owned by the elder brother of FC Porto and Super Eagles left back Zaidu Sanusi.

OGN will continue to monitor the proposed deal as it progresses.

NFF- Salisu Yusuf Will Be Super Eagles Coach With Peseiro’s Contract Terminating In June

0

The contract of the head coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Jose Peseiro will come to an end in June and there has been no talks about an extension, OGN can exclusively reveal.

Peseiro signed a one year deal that will extend to a two years contract if he wins the Africa Cup of Nations originally scheduled for this year but postponed to next year.

That postponement appears to have caused some form of confusion over his contract which will soon be over, but it has now been cleared by a member of the Nigeria Football Federation, who also hinted at the possible next line of action.

” It’s a one year deal and it didn’t extend automatically following the postponement of the AFCON. The first year will end in June and it will be subjected to a review by the technical department of the NFF, they will then advice on the next step to be taken on either an extension or not”, he told OGN.

Explaining further, he said before a decision is reached Salisu Yusuf, one of the assistants of Peseiro will handle the team in interim capacity. He is the most senior in the set up and the oldest. Above all he is the only one with a written contract. So it’s so normal”.

When reminded that Yusuf recently failed to qualify the CHAN team and later the U23s for the AFCON, he said there is every tendency that he won’t continue in the roles but his contract with the Super Eagles still has a year left to run.

” Yusuf won’t be handling the home based team or the U23s but his contract with the Super Eagles still has one more year to run. When that one expires then a decision will be made but for now we can’t sack him over the U23 of CHAN Eagles”, he concluded.

U20 World Cup: Crystal Palace Goalkeeper Who Rejected Nigeria U20 Invitation Snubbed By England

0

The U20 team of England will later this week arrive Argentina for the U20 World Cup following the naming of the 21 man squad for the tournament by coach of the team, OGN reports.

Head coach of the team Ian Foster including Chelsea’s Carney Chukwuemeka, Leeds United’s Darko Gyabi and Southampton’s Sam Edozie.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Alfie Devine, a winner of last year’s Under-19 European Championship with England under Foster, has also been included alongside 15 other players who won that title.

However there was no space in the team for Crystal Palace shot stopper Owen Goodman, who made his debut for the team in a friendly game against Spain, a month after turning down an invitation to be a part of the Nigeria U20 team for the Africa Cup of Nations.

Goodman as exclusively revealed by OGN was handed a chance to be among the goalkeepers of the team during their camping exercise in Abuja, but he turned it down after he was told to pay his way to camp and be refunded if he makes the team.

That arrangements didn’t go down well with the young goalkeeper, who at that time was already on the radar of the English U20 team. His representatives confirmed he indeed got the call up but declined it but they didn’t state why he did.

His failure to make the team of England will no doubt make them to revisit that decision although there is no guarantee that he would have made that of Nigeria even if he had accepted the call up.

Chijioke Anigboso and Nathaniel Nwosu are the first and second choice of the team and they both have the trust of the coach of the team Ladan Bosso.

He Turns Ten Times On One Spot- Coach Of Bundesliga Side Explains Why Super Eagles Winger Isn’t A Starter

0

Head coach of German Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin Pál Dárdai has launched a scathing attack on out of favour Nigeria international winger Childera Ejuke, OGN reports.

Ejuke took advantage of the FIFA window to suspend his contract with Russian side CSKA Moscow due to the war with Ukraine joining the German side in the summer transfer window on a one year deal.

The move hasn’t worked out as planned with Ejuke struggling to nail a permanent spot in the starting lineup of the team, who are presently bottom of the league and favorite to be relegated to the second division.

Dárdai who replaced Sandro Schwarz four weeks ago is saddled with the task of keeping them up in what is his third spell at the club. He will handled them in six games with the hope of at least getting a relegation play off spot.

Speaking on the players at the club, he didn’t mince words when he was asked about why Ejuke who is seen as the best dribbler in the team isn’t a regular after his return to full fitness. He was out injured for almost three months.

“His problems are difficult to figure out, I would have to work longer with him for that and I don’t have the time. He’s an outstanding footballer, but turns ten times on the spot”, he lamented.

“If he learns to play the pass after 1-2 good offensive tackles, he would be world class because what he has in 1V1 ( one on one contest) no other player here has – I haven’t seen anything like that for a long time. Of course he will also play, we have trust in him.”
