Making a dynasty in a sport is a thing only a few can boast of, and passing on this supremacy to another is one thing many top athletes have failed to achieve. Cash out Big when you bet on NextGen star Carlos Alcaraz on iLOT Bet.

Roger Federer made a home for himself on the grass court but was unsuccessful at passing his artistry to any Swiss youngster; however, the story may just appear a little different for Rafael Nadal and Spanish tennis. When Roger Federer won his first Grand Slam in 2003, an abundance of celebrations and optimistic predictions followed his win at Wimbledon, but only a few had the idea that a future tennis star had been born two months earlier. A young Carlos Alcaraz was born in El Palmar near Murcia in Spain to the family of former tennis star Carlos Alcaraz González.Alcaraz was so good that he quickly racked up three ATP Challenger titles, joining an elite company of players, such as Novak Djokovic, Richard Gasquet, and Felix Auger Aliassime, who had done it before him. It was at this point the media hype for the youngster began. He was second to none – best proven by the fact that the next tennis player at his age is ranked only No. 550 in the world!

In February 2020, upon receiving a wildcard from the singles main draw, 16-year-old Alcaraz made his ATP main-draw debut at the Rio Open, after winning two ITF tournaments. There in Brazil, he defeated Albert Ramos Viñolas, earning his first victory on the main circuit. The Spaniard became the youngest player to win an ATP title on tour since Kei Nishikori won the title at Delray Beach in 2008. He also became the youngest title winner in Umag history and the third-youngest ATP title winner since 2000.

Alcaraz’s prodigious talent on the court finally became undeniable when he outclassed both Nadal and Djokovic at the Madrid Open in May of 2022; so it came as a surprise to only a few when the 19-year-old won this year’s US Open, becoming the youngest US Open champion since Pete Sampras’ triumph in 1990. A stand-out match for the Spaniard was his US Open men’s singles final against Casper Ruud. Displaying his unimpeachable quality, in this game, Alcaraz scored his 51st tour-level win of the season – the most by any player this year.

For a player who has fared better in his first 100 games compared to the legendary trio of Roger Federer, Nadal, and Novak Djokovic, it is hard to look past the youngster as the next era-defining talent in the tennis world. Bayern Munich Star Reveals How Close He Was To Playing For Super Eagles Ahead Of Germany

0

Nigeria have been very active in the area of luring players who were born abroad to commit their international future to the senior national team.

The move was very much in full flight during the tenure of former coach Gernot Rohr. The German succeeded with as many as seven players born abroad making their debut for Nigeria during his time as coach.

However he failed with some like Bayern Munich and Germany national team star Jamal Musiala, who as first reported by OGN had talks with the then coach senior national team of Nigeria but opted against commiting his future to Nigeria.

“Musiala is coming from here. Musiala I have the regret, he could also play for Nigeria but he decided to play for Germany. Wonderful player. I met him when he was 17 and spoke with his agent and his parents. Around that time he couldn’t make a decision then a year later, he became what he is now and that’s all”, Rohr explained to OGN early this year.

That report has now been confirmed by the player himself in an interview with TeamNigeriaUK3. He said he gave the option a hard thought before deciding on sticking with Germany, where he is now an established member of their first team.

“I could have played for Nigeria because it crossed my mind, and I thought about it well. I had good talks with Nigeria and Germany,” Musiala told TeamNigeriaUK3.

“So it really just came down to me and where I’d feel the most comfortable. So I decided to go with Germany.”

Napoli Coach Spalletti Confirms Taking Penalties Duties From Osimhen – He Isn’t The Designated Taker

0

The head coach of runaway leaders in the Italian Serie A Napoli Luciano Spalletti has revealed that Nigeria international forward Victor Osimhen isn’t the teams designated penalty taker despite the player chasing the top scorer award with 15 goals so far.

Luciano Spalletti has been pressed to address the issue of who is the designated penalty taker of the team and ahead of the game against Cremonense he decided to end the debate on who has the role of taking spot kicks for the team.

Osimhen is well on course to finish as top scorer in the league, which will be the first time an African player will be winning the gong, and many believe taking penalties will no doubt increase his chances of making history with Napoli favorite to win the title.

Spalletti said Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is the designated penalty taker ahead of other players but he didn’t sound like Osimhen is among. This is a departure from his statement in August last year when he handed penalty duties to the 23 year old.

Is Kvaratskhelia the penalty taker? “Yes, but there are others. I saw that they were talking today too, but since he’s an available boy today I didn’t want him to be available as usual”.

Just before the start of the season, the official Twitter handle of the team confirmed Osimhen as the designated penalty taker with a post on social media shortly after his penalty goal in their final pre season game against Mallorca which ended 1-1.

” Osimhen!!! 1-0. But the most important thing: He’s gonna be out penalty kicker this season”. An announcement heralding him as the successor to Lorenzo Insigne who left the club last summer for Major League Soccer side Toronto FC.

This hasn’t been the case so far with Napoli crushing as league leader with a healthy 13 points gap between them and second placed Inter Milan. There lead hasn’t been helped by the fact that they have won their last five games in a row.

Analysis Of Nigeria U20 25 Man List For U2O AFCON – Bosso Stamped His Authority On Age Cheats

0

The Nigeria U20 team departed Nigeria today for a training camp in Morocco from where they will connect a flight to Egypt for the U20 Africa Cup of Nations.

OGN editor in chief, Mohammed Mowiz Suleiman takes a look at the 25 players who made the trip from which 21 will be picked for the tournament. Also how coach of the team Ladan Bosso refused to bow to pressure by excluding some key players on the grounds of age discrepancies.

GOALKEEPERS: Nathaniel Nwosu (Water FC), Chijioke Anigboso (Giant Brillars), Saheed Akanbi (Adoration FC).

Verdict – As many as eight goakeepers turned up for the final phase of camping but the moment Ovie Ejeheri of Arsenal opted against honouring the invitation to be a part of the camp in favor of a loan move to Finnish side SJK Seinajoki, it became clear that the above mentioned trio will be the chosen ones.

However while Nwosu holds the title of first choice, his performance against Zambia in a 4-2 win plus the decision to hand Chijioke Anigboso the role of one of the vice captains means his spot isn’t assured.

DEFENDERS: Daniel Bamaiyi (YumYum FC), Michael Ologo (İstanbulspor ), Abel Ogwuche ( Trelleborgs FF), Solomon Agbalaka (Broad City), Augustine Njoku (Abia Warriors), Benjamin Frederick (Nasarawa United).

Verdict: One of the centre backs will have to make way when the final list of 21 players is made official. For now the understanding showed by Fredrick when he paired Bamaiyi in the second half of the 4-2 win over Zambia puts him in strong position to make the team at the expense of one of the foreign based players.

MIDFIELDERS: Daniel Daga (Dakkada FC), Onuche Ogbelu (Nasarawa United), Musa Usman, Mohammed Aminu ( Mailantarki FC), Jonathan Nicholas (Simoiben FC), Shatima Umar( Mahaniam FC), Caleb Ochedikwu (Mavlon FC), Samson Lawal (Unattached).

Verdict: The duo of Daga and Ogbule pick themselves as starters while Jonathan has the ball distribution and final pass that makes him standout from the rest. Lawal has goals in him and also the trust of the coaches. Tight call but whoever makes the cut will no doubt make the nation proud.

FORWARDS: Jude Sunday (Real Sapphire FC), Francis Ayuba (Nasarawa United), Adams Olamilekan (Remo Stars), Ahmed Abdullahi (Gent), Haliru Sarki (Maikunkele FC), Emmanuel Uchegbu (Plateau United), Ibrahim Mohammed (Mavlon FC), Kingsley James (Unattached).

Verdict: I am made to understand that two players will be dropped from the above department but for now Sarki, Abdullahi, Sunday, Olamilekan,Uchegbu are sure bet. Leaving the remaining trio to battle for two slots.

Overall Verdict: An 8/10 list by my assessment. It could have been higher but for the inclusion of Ahmed Abdullahi who wasn’t a part of the camping exercise from where I pick my ratings.

One major thing that stood out for me is the decision of the coach to leave out six players who were among the most outstanding in camp , the moment it was discovered that they had dual passports or have discrepancies in their documents. A brave move that many didn’t see coming.

Free Scoring Burnley Winger Tella Keen On Hearing From Super Eagles Coach Scores 11th Goal Of The Season

0

High flying Burnley showed their class once again when they secure progress to the next round of the English FA Cup with a 2-1 win over Ipswich Town in a fourth round replay on Tuesday.

The win was made possible courtesy of a brace from on loan Southampton winger Nathan Tella. The brace took his goal count for the season to 11, with nine coming in the English Championship where they are runaway leaders with as many as ten points separating them from second place Sheffield United.

Tella played for England at several youth levels by around a year ago pledged his international future to the senior national team of Nigeria . He made the declaration in an interview monitored by OGN editorial team last year.

23 year old Tella was speaking on the Africa Cup of Nations held in January last year and he said playing for Nigeria will be dream come true for him. An experience he said will bring out the best in him.

“I would love to play international football,” Tella told HampshireLive in January 2022.

“That’s always been a dream of mine. If I went away with Nigeria, it would be something new and new experiences bring out the best in players.

He continued: “I’m always keeping an eye on AFCON. I’m Nigerian, so I always want to focus and watch the games”, he rounded up saying.

Back then he was a bit part player at Southampton and that made a call up difficult but that isn’t the case anymore with his performance at Burnley. A call up will however depend on the decision of the present coach of the team Jose Peseiro.

He Is A Wanted Lad – European Teams Queue Up For Nigeria U20 Star Winger Haliru Sarki-Rilwan

0

The one player who caught the eyes during the Nigeria U20 team 4-2 friendly game win against Zambia was Haliru Sarki Rilwan, he scored the opener and twice had efforts that came off the woodwork.

He was a thorn in the flesh of the Zambians with his clever foot works, pace, strengths and also passes. It came as a no surprise when he got a standing ovation when he was subbed off around 65 minutes of play.

It appears many have forgotten about him from the last U17 team of Nigeria and also that he was at the WAFU B championship where the team emerged as champions. He played in all of the games bar the last two games which he missed due to the injury.

Sarki we gathered is currently generating lot of interests from top teams in Europe and as many as six are keen on running the rule on him when the U20 AFCON gets underway. Although it could be earlier than that with representatives of some clubs already in Morocco where the team will have their final camp.

Abuja based Mahanaim Football Club have a gem on their hand and will no doubt demand a premium as his transfer fee with his room for improvement putting him in the frame for a senior national team call up in a not too distant future.
