Southgate’s Frustration At Lookman Shunning England For Nigeria Revisited As He Nets Brace Against Juventus

0

Nigeria international winger Ademola Lookman took his goal tally for the season to 11 after netting a brace against Juventus for Atalanta in their 3-3 draw in the Italian Serie A.

Lookman handed his team a 4th minute lead which but it was cancelled by Angel Di Maria before Arkadiusz Milik put his team 2-1 up,  30 minutes later. Immediately after the restart Joakim Maehle drew the away team level, piling more misery on Juventus, who are battling a 15 points deduction due to financial irregularities.

Lookman handed the team again in the 53rd minute with a well placed header but Juventus struck back 13 minutes later through Danilo and the game stayed levelled like that till after 90 minutes.

After the game, the discussions were centered around Lookman who is now seen by many as the signing of the season following his €15m move from RB Leipzig in the summer. The 25 year old is second in the goal scorers chart with only his international teammate Victor Osimhen ahead of him with 13 goals.

With four senior caps to his name for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, he could have been pushing for a call up to the English national team based on his form if the present coach of the English team Gareth Southgate had his way.

Southgate was his coach at U21 level with England and the coach tried to stop the former England U19, U20 and U21 winger from representing Nigeria when the discussion about his possible switch of allegiance first came up.

His form this season has forced us to revisit the issue again because it’s looking like England’s lost is now Nigeria’s gain as the Super Eagles get set to return to action in March for the AFCON 2024 qualifiers.

Southgate speaking back then said Lookman is among the players he hope to see in the senior colours of England after turning down three approaches from Nigeria.

“I know every country is quite aggressive in their recruiting and I know they have always had an interest in him, but he is playing and has been in our squads, the 20s, 21s,” Southgate said in 2018.

“So in terms of encouragement through game time, we are doing as much as we possibly can. Lookman knows he has a future with us”.

Top 5 football betting mistakes you must guard against

0

Football betting can be an extremely lucrative activity if you know what you are doing. But it’s important to choose the right platform to bet. You can find different betting websites on Betting Kenya. Unfortunately, mistakes are often made that can cost bettors dearly. Here are the top four football betting mistakes you must guard against to ensure a successful and profitable season:

1. Not Having a Plan:

Perhaps the biggest mistake made by football bettors is not having a plan of attack. You should have both short-term and long-term goals for your betting season. These goals should include specific rules and guidelines on how much money to wager, which games to target, when to pull out, etc. Without direction and guidance it’s easy to get lost in the shuffle and make rash decisions that could cost you dearly over time.

2. Not Shopping for the Best Lines:

Betting websites offer different lines on each game, so it’s important to shop around before placing a bet to ensure you get the best price possible. A few points may not seem like much at first blush but they can add up quickly over time if you’re not diligent in your line shopping efforts. In addition, some sportsbooks offer alternative lines such as reduced juice or various props that may be more attractive than those offered elsewhere.

3. Chasing Losses:

Another common mistake among football bettors is chasing losses in an effort to try and recoup their money right away instead of sticking with their plan and waiting for better opportunities down the road. This type of behavior often leads to bigger losses down the road because it leads bettors away from sound strategies into more risky ones where they may not be well informed about the teams involved or have done their due diligence on other factors affecting outcomes such as weather conditions or injuries that could play a role in games they are considering betting on.

4 . Being Too Greedy:

Finally, some bettors become too greedy in their betting activities by trying to hit big jackpots with small bankrolls or taking on too many bets at once thinking that “if I just hit one home run then I’ll be set for life”—this type of mindset usually leads to serious disappointment when reality sets in after losing multiple wagers during a single day or week of action due to bad luck or poor judgment calls based on incomplete information or analysis at the time of making selections.  By following these tips and avoiding these common pitfalls, you will greatly increase your chances of success when it comes time for football season!

5. Not Accounting for Risk:

One of the most important aspects of football betting is understanding and accounting for risk. Betting on a single game carries different levels of risk than betting on multiple games or parlays, so it’s important to understand the implications before you make your wager. Knowing when to bet big and when to play it safe will help you maximize your profits while minimizing losses.  Remember that no matter how smart you are, there is always an element of luck involved in any form of gambling—never let greed cloud your judgment!  With proper knowledge and discipline, however, you can certainly enjoy success with football betting.

Football betting can be a highly profitable activity, but it requires careful planning and discipline to stay on track. By avoiding the four common mistakes mentioned in this article – not having a plan, not shopping for the best lines, chasing losses and being too greedy – you will greatly increase your chances of success when football season arrives. Take some time now to develop your own plan of attack and stick with it! With proper preparation, knowledge of the teams involved and sound judgment calls based on accurate information, you could be well on your way to making big profits from sports betting this upcoming season. Good luck!

In the wake of the performance of Morocco, Senegal and Cameroon at the World Cup, the coach was asked if he still harbours the hope of winning the next AFCON and he insist that nothing has changed in the ambition of his team.

New NFF President Confirms Sacking Of Super Eagles, U23, U20 And U17 Coaches

0

The president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Ibrahim Musa Gusau has confirmed the sacking of some backroom staff and also technical assistants of the various arms of the national team of Nigeria.

Rumours has been going on about the trimming down of the coaches and backroom staff of the various arms of the Nigerian teams and Gusau in an interview confirmed it is true. He said the move is meant to cut the excesses of having too many hands in a national team.

He said it was part of the cost cutting measures embarked on by the new board of the NFF and the affected coaches and backroom staff have been told their fate. For the Super Eagles he said the decision is why some of the coaches and backroom staff didn’t make the trip to the friendly game against Portugal, which Nigeria lost 0-4.

“We started with Super Eagles by trimming the backroom staff to a manageable number from the over 20 attained in the past during their last friendly in Portugal. This I must confess saved us millions of Naira that should have gone into payment of flight tickets and accommodation, as well as daily allowances and expenditures”, he told Complete Sports.

” These measures will also affect the Super Falcons, Falconets, Flamingos and the Olympic Eagles and other age-grade national teams. Henceforth, only four coaches will be attached to each of the national teams, but perhaps, the Super Eagles and Super Falcons getting some preferential treatment as the occasion demands.

“The issue of coaches cut across all national teams including the Super Eagles. We cannot be managing 7-8 coaches in a team. That is an invitation for chaos and it’s money-consuming. To this end, we have told some of the coaches that their services are no longer required while some may be redeployed, ” Gusau stated
