Belgium side RFC Seraing appears to have pulled a major coup in the transfer market after making an under the radar signing of a Nigerian striker.

The modest team survived the drop to the second division last season upon their return to the top division after a 25 year absence in the top division. The aim is to go one step further next season and to that effect they have been working on strengthening their team.

Little known Nigerian forward Ejaita Ifoni was signed on a three year deal from Mozambique side Black Bull FC. He spent last season on loan to FC Porto B. The announcement on their official website also confirmed that he will wear the jersey number 29 next season.

Last season on the back of scoring 13 goals in 13 League games for Black Bull FC of Mozambique, the 22 year old was signed by FC Porto for their B team in January. He ended the season with just a goal in nine games.

As the new coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Jose Peseiro settles down to his position, a timely reminder has been sent his way by the former scout of Dutch Eredivisie side Heerenveen.

The ex head of Scouting Karel Brandsma who is now retired was pivotal in the club scouting and recruiting several players who ended up becoming a strong part of the team. Some were sold for a tidy profit.

Among the players is Nigerian winger Chidera Ejuke who according to Brandsma ranks among one of his best discoveries during his time as scout at the club. He detailed how he first sighted the Nigerian who was sold to CSKA Moscow after just a year at the club.

“Peter Maas and I saw Ejuke play football in Norway, with Valerenga. We both thought the same: this is it! Ejuke was an expensive purchase for us. But he was so special. Just before he signed with us, big clubs came in between, where Ejuke could earn much more. That was very exciting,” Brandsma looks back in the Leeuwarder Courant .

. “Ejuke and his agent kept their word. He came to Heerenveen. A very special boy, who we sold to CSKA Moscow after an unusual poker game. Everything was right with him, from the very first time we saw him and his arrival at Heerenveen until the season that he played with us and got sold”, he said.

His words will no doubt catch the attention of Peseiro who hasn’t included the winger in any of his squad. He recently moved to German side Hertha Berlin after suspending his contract with Russian side CSKA Moscow.

He spent last season on loan at Dutch side Feyenoord and emerged as top scorer in the Europa Conference League. They however turn down the option of signing him permanently citing financial issues and a failure to agree personal terms.

Now back at Genk, his future still remains uncertain hence the bid from Cremonese last week. It was rejected by Genk who are looking for a fee in the region of €4m for the 27 year old who has two years to go on his deal at the club. The bid reportedly falls below the valuation of Genk.

Watford Coach On Emmanuel Dennis – If Won’t Play Dennis, Saar Until I See A Good Attitude, Commitment

0

As the uncertainty on the future of Nigeria international Emmanuel Dennis continue to go on at relegated English Premier League side Watford, coach of the team Rob Edwards has given his opinion.

Dennis alongside Ismaila Saar were left out of the team’s pre season tour of Austria with the idea of both players leaving the team before the close of the transfer window.

However with no real interest in sight for the duo, they were part of the team that defeated Wycombe Wanderers in a pre season game played on Saturday at London Colney. As a matter of fact they were both on target in the game.

Edward was asked about the chances of the duo lining up for his team in the Championship next week when their campaign get underway, he explained what will make him include them in his team.

“There’s no obligation to play them but if I see commitment and a good attitude and a real focus, then they are two excellent players who will help us win games,” said head coach Rob Edwards.

“My job is to build a positive culture and a winning environment. Once we do that, then my job is to pick the best team I can in order to win games of football.

“While both lads are here and are committed, then they will be at the forefront of my mind because they are very, very good players. They can help us win games.”

Super Eagles Won’t Win Every Game 10-0: Peseiro Warns Fans Expecting Big Win Over Guinea-Bissau

0

Coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Jose Peseiro says fans of the team should be modest in their expectations ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers games against Guinea-Bissau.

Super Eagles will likely wrap up qualification for the tournament if they are able to win the back to back games against Guinea-Bissau scheduled for the month of September.

Although there are doubts if the game will be played as expected owing to the postponement of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations to 2024. Peseiro is however focused on the games until there is an official statement on it’s postponement.

He said fans of the team shouldn’t expect another scoreline like the 10-0 win over Sao Tome and Principe in their last game, even their will approach the game with the aim of winning in style.

” The winning mindset is the same but I can’t say it will be the same scores like our last game. You can’t win 10-0 all the time and it’s why it was history when we did it. It doesn’t happen always. In September we want to win in our home and also away from home”, he told OwnGoalNigeria.com.
