Seen as the livewire of the team, Aliyu’s application was lacking a document which he couldn’t get on time due to the long holiday in Nigeria. His international passport is now expected to be out by next week.

The proposed date for the issuance of his passport left the coach with no option than to replace his most potent striker during the course of their camping in Abuja ahead of the tournament.

They will play their first group game against Ghana tomorrow. A win will put them in a comfortable position to progress to the semi final of the seven team tournament, which serves as qualifiers for the Africa U17 cup of Nations.

Super Eagles Coach- NFF Might Ditch Peseiro Again As Minister Orders Fresh Interview For All Four Coaches

0

There are strong indication that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will be forced to make a u-turn on the appointment of Portuguese coach Jose Peseiro as the new coach of the Super Eagles.

Peseiro is widely tipped to be named as coach as he is the preferred choice of the NFF but the minister for youths and sports Sunday Dare isn’t sold out on the choice of the Portuguese.

Dare according to Wale Ajayi, who is a close associate want the NFF to meet with all interested candidates again after the federal government agreed to foot the bills of the next foreign coach of the team.

NFF picked Peseiro as he is the one whose wages won’t be a problem to the football house but Dare is saying that with the federal government now in charge of the salary of the incoming coach, the NFF shouldn’t settle for Peseiro who according to him isn’t the best among the quartet of coaches shortlisted.

The others are Ernesto Valverde, Philip Cocu and Laurent Blanc. If the ministry gets their way Peseiro will for the second time in four months face the disappointment of getting rejected twice by the NFF.

He was supposed to take over from interim coach Austine Eguavoen after the AFCON but the move was halted with Eguavoen allowed to handled the team for the World Cup qualifiers playoff which ended in disappointment.

Nketiah Isn’t As Good As Osimhen – Campbell Urges Arsenal To Break The Bank For Osimhen

0

Former Arsenal forward Kevin Campbell says in order for Arsenal to challenge they need to upgrade their striking department following the departure of Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.

Aubameyang was the team’s top scorer for three seasons in a row but he left in January after a row with coach Mikel Arteta leaving the duty of scoring goals in the hands of Alexander Lacazette.

Lacazette hasn’t quite lived up to the task and since returning from injury he hasn’t found a way back into the team with Eddie Nketiah now tasked with leading the line.

Although he hasn’t done badly and was roundly praised for his performance against West Ham even though he didn’t score. Nketiah just like Lacazette will be out of contract at the end of the season.

Campbell says the club should let the 23 year old leave alongside Lacazette and sign two strikers who will be an upgrade on the duo. He said although Nketiah did well against West Ham, a very good striker would have buried the chances he failed to convert.

“We (Arsenal) need 2 strikers: Darwin Nunez, Victor Osimhen or Gabriel Jesus. Nketiah didn’t score against West Ham despite he had chances. The other three would have scored and that is the difference. No disrespect but Nketiah is not the answer. He is a fox in the box but he is not the answer”, he said.

The Cricket And Football Connection

*The relationship between cricket and football

*India is a sports country. The debate about what is more popular in India, cricket or football, has been going on for a long time. We tried to answer this question.

Sport in India

India is a country that amazes travelers with its contrast and diversity. Ayurveda, Hinduism, temples, and sights – all this is well known to tourists. However, India can also boast of sporting achievements. For the majority of the population, sport is often the only opportunity to somehow express themselves and realize themselves.

The largest population of India is the younger generation, which is trying in every possible way to join the world of sports. And although the sports achievements of the Indians are not as popular as in other countries, there are some of them, which means that the country’s sports future is still ahead.

The cultivated sports in India are as diverse as the country itself. And if you don’t surprise people with tennis and football, then there are very exotic types of competitions in India. Cricket and football are the most widespread sports.

Cricket in India

In India, cricket is incredibly popular. Cricket cannot be considered a national game, since this competition was brought here by the British. But, despite this, the game has become extremely popular among the Indians. Cricket is played by many Indians, from the boys on the street to the professionals who make it big by playing for the Indian national team in international tournaments. More than once, Indians have won the World Cup in this sport.

As for the rules of the game, they are quite simple and vaguely reminiscent of baseball. Cricket is played between two teams whose players alternately serve each other balls. The winner is determined by points, and successful actions bring points to the attacking team, for example, hitting the goal or the player defending them. The task of the defenders is to beat off flying balls. Depending on how and how far the flying ball is hit, the defending team is awarded points.

Cricket matches can go on for several days. And the limit of the duration of one game is 5 days. Moreover, the duration of the match per day is about 6 hours.

Cricket matches in India are very spectacular and the stadiums are usually full. Many Indian workers and employees may quit their jobs for the sake of play. Given the fact that the work is low-paid, cricket for real fans can be more expensive.

But using cricket ipl betting tips from Parimatch you can even earn some money watching the game. Parimatch is an international licensed company with more than 28 years of history. Parimatch offers the best service for cricket betting worldwide.

Football in India

Football is the second most played sport in India after cricket in terms of player participation and the third most played sport in India in terms of TV viewership, behind cricket and the resurgent Kabaddi. Having been in Mumbai, you can see how children play football on the beaches, in the fields, and even just on the streets. And this does not go unnoticed.

Every year, several times a year, employees of the well-known British football team Liverpool visit this country in order to find talented players. By the way, women also play football there, there is even a women’s league.

Football is considered one of the main sports and one of the most popular in India, but today the football team is only 147th on the list of the International Football Federation. And the most important and the last achievement was in the 50s.

The relationship between cricket and football

The relationship between cricket and football in India is ambiguous. Many people claim that football is as popular as cricket, but statistics show otherwise. 66% of Indians live in rural areas and people have no idea what football is like and they love cricket and kabaddi.

As for the urban population, we can divide it into small cities and large cities. In smaller towns maybe 2-3% of people follow football, and in big cities around 10-15%. Such data relates mainly to young people, the older generation is generally not interested in football. Football fans often tend to overestimate the popularity of football in India.

Cricket is part of Indian culture and a favorite pastime. Football should first reach the popularity of Kabaddi and then compete with cricket. This does not mean television ratings but as part of the culture. Most people prefer to play kabaddi rather than football every day, especially in rural areas.

Conclusion

Indians are fond of sports. The most popular sports are cricket and football. However, if you compare these two sports, then cricket has already become something of a religion in India. Sport is not only a pleasure but also a means to earn money if you bet on sports with a reliable company Parimatch.

Di Marzio – PSG Want Osimhen As Replacement For Real Madrid Bound Mbappe

Ligue 1 giants PSG are considering a move for Napoli forward Victor Osimhen as they prepare for life without Kylian Mbappe who is expected to join Real Madrid in the summer.

This much was made known by transfer specialist journalist Gianluca Di Marzio in a chat with German website WettFreunde. He said the former Lille striker has admirers at the Parc de Princess right from his days at Lille.

The future of Osimhen has been a hot topic in the media for about a week now with rumours of interest from Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle United who reportedly failed with a bid to sign him in January.

The squad of the senior national team of Nigeria for the upcoming friendly games in the United States of America against Mexico and Ecuador on the 28th of May and 2nd of June respectively will be made public next week.

Head coach of the team Salisu Yusuf has been mandated to draft the list of players for the game and also the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sierra Leone in Abuja.

The decision to let Yusuf name the squad for the game will remain same even if a substantive foreign coach is named before the games per what we exclusively gathered.

Yusuf per what we gathered will name the duo of Ahmed Musa and Odion Ighalo in the squad despite the fact that both of them hinted at international retirement before the ill fated World Cup qualifiers playoff games against Ghana.

The coach still sees the duo as integral to his plans and will go ahead to name them in the squad for the above mentioned games. He believe the team still need the experience of the duo to help through difficult phases.

Prior to the World Cup qualifiers playoff against Ghana, he was once again approached by the technical crew of the Nigerian team but he declined the chance to be a part of the team.

He has now re-echoed his desire to play for England as he believe he has what it takes to play for England after an impressive season in the English Championship.

“I knew, because I was playing in the Championship, that it wasn’t going to be possible to get a call-up but it’s definitely possible now.
