Ex Juventus Director Moggi – I Prefer Osimhen To Dusan Vlahovic, He Decides Games More

0

Former Juventus general manager Luciano Moggi has given his opinion on who he will rather have in his team between Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Dusan Vlahovic who joined Juventus in January.

Both players are in same age bracket and as the season progresses they will be required to help their respective teams achieve their aim of finishing the season on a high.

Osimhen scored his tenth league goal of the season against Venezia over the weekend in what was his first start since having facial surgery which kept him out for three months. Vlahovic on the other hand got off the mark for his new team against Hellas Verona.

Moggi was asked who among the duo he will like to have in his team as top striker and he went for Osimhen, explaining that he can single handedly decide games unlike Vlahovic who needs the rest of the team in order to be decisive.

“Between Vlahovic and Osimhen I would have definitely bought Victor, because the Nigerian forward can win games even alone”, he told LaCittaDelPallone.

Amuneke Will Help Eguavoen’s Lack Of Technical Sagacity- Pinnick On New Super Eagles Coach

0

President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Amaju Pinnick says the appointment of Emmanuel Amuneke as one of the Super Eagles coaches is to aid the job of Austine Eguavoen, who still remains the head of the technical crew.

Yesterday, the NFF announced the ex Nigeria U17 and U20 coach as one of the coaches of the senior national team of Nigeria as first reported by this portal one week ago. He takes the role of Salisu Yusuf.

Yusuf still remains as part of the crew but he will now drop to the role of second assistant and also handle the home base team famously called CHAN Eagles. Joseph Yobo keeps his role as third assistant.

Alloy Agu still retains his role as goalkepper’s coach but Paul Aigbogun and Dr Terry Eguaoje who were both of part of the crew to the AFCON were returned back to their previous role in the NFF set up.

Explaining the new set up, Pinnick said the idea is to help Eguavoen with some technical aid despite the fact that the team did well at the AFCON, where they crashed out at the round of 16.

“Eguavoen did well  and he provided good leadership in the team. He gave the team freedom to express themselves, but trust me there can be more to it in terms of the way we want to win”, he said.

“Generally, I commended him for what he did with the team. He took the job at short notice and he was able to deliver. He won three games convincingly. The only team in the tournament to do that in the first round.

“The team we defeated in the first round, Egypt, reached the final. What we need to do now is to just inject some kind of technical sagacity to the team.”

The Nigeria Football Federation on Monday announced the reconstitution of the technical crew of the Senior Men National Team, Super Eagles, with Augustine Eguavoen staying as Interim Technical Adviser while former Nigeria World Cup star and former U20 Boys’ Head Coach, Emmanuel Amuneke drafted in as immediate assistant to Eguavoen.

One of the most garlanded footballers to have come out of Nigeria, Amuneke scored both goals that won Nigeria the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations final match against Zambia in Tunis, scored the goal that won Nigeria and Africa’s first Olympic football gold medal in 1996 and played in the 1994 and 1996 FIFA World Cup finals, scoring two goals in USA ’94.

As coach, the electrifying winger qualified Tanzania for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt and led the Taifa Stars in the finals. He is a Member of both the FIFA and CAF Technical Study Groups.

“The NFF Board has approved a recommendation of the Technical and Development Committee retaining Augustine Eguavoen as Technical Director/Technical Adviser (interim) while Emmanuel Amuneke becomes the Chief Coach of the Super Eagles. Salisu Yusuf will be the 2nd Assistant Coach/Chief Coach of the CHAN team and Joseph Yobo will be 3rd Assistant while Aloysius Agu remains the Goalkeepers’ Trainer,” NFF General Secretary, Dr Mohammed Sanusi announced.

The reconstitution comes after the Super Eagles’ outing at the 33rd Africa Cup of Nations finals in Cameroon, and ahead of the potentially –explosive FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 play-off round against the Black Stars of Ghana next month.

Sanusi added: “We acknowledge and appreciate the interest that Mr Jose Peseiro has shown in Nigeria Football during our very cordial discussions and have absolutely no doubt about his capacity. We believe that perhaps in the future, there could be an opportunity to work with him.  However, in view of the positive performance of the Super Eagles at the just-concluded Africa Cup of Nations which has given hope to Nigerians and boosted our confidence in the present coaching crew to qualify us for the World Cup in Qatar, we have decided to accept the recommendation of the Technical and Development Committee to retain the Eguavoen-led coaching crew and strengthen it with the addition of Emmanuel Amuneke.”

Revealed – Real Reason Why NFF Shelved Handing Super Eagles Job To Peseiro

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has moved on from the idea of appointing Portuguese coach Jose Peseiro as first revealed by OwnGoalNigeria.com.

President of the NFF Amaju Pinnick revealed that talks on appointing him as substantive  coach of the Nigerian team stalled due to disagreement on certain clauses in the deal.

OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal the real reason why the Portuguese who was expected to take over from Austine Eguavoen after the Africa Cup of Nations won’t be the coach anymore.

We gathered, the coach was keen on bringing his backroom staff after initial agreeing to work with the ones provided for him by the NFF. He didn’t stop there as unlike sacked former coach Gernot Rohr he wanted the NFF to pick up the bills of his assistants.

Because of that he amended the already agreed deal that was sent to him to sign and return back to the football house. In amending it he demanded for more money to cater for the assistants he is bringing to work with him.

Upon receiving the amended contract draft from Peseiro, the NFF felt uncomfortable in engaging him as he has already started off on the wrong foot by going against what was verbally agreed with him. It’s why he wasn’t in Cameroon as said in the press release that confirmed him as coach of the Nigerian team.

Pinnick has already given his blessings to Peseiro that he can go ahead and get another job as the NFF won’t be appointing him as coach due to the aforementioned issues.

In an interview Pinnick said an agreement wasn’t reached with the coach after the initial approval of his appointment as terms of the deal wasn’t signed and it will stay same.

It means Austine Eguavoen will now take charge of the Super Eagles for their World Cup 2022 playoff game against Ghana in March. An announcement is said to be imminent.

Decision To Drop Lorient Man Of The Moment Bonke From Super Eagles AFCON Squad Shocks Rohr

0

Former coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr says the decision of the Super Eagles technical crew not to include Innocent Bonke in the Super Eagles squad for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations came as a shock to him.

Rohr handed Bonke his competitive debut while he was still in Sweden turning out for Malmö and prior to his sack included the 26 year old in his preliminary list of players for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Following the sacking of Rohr, the new technical crew led by Austine Eguavoen didn’t include him in the list of players for the tournament, where Nigeria crashed out in the round of 16 losing 0-1 to Tunisia.

Bonke moved to French Ligue 1 side Lorient in the January transfer window and in his first start for the team he showed why he is on the way to becoming one of the first names on the team sheet for games.

Speaking on his adaptation, Rohr said he saw the same qualities hence his debut for the Nigerian team away to Cape Verde, where they won 2-1 in the World Cup qualifiers.

” He has energy to go up the pitch and also has tactical awareness to close it at the back. We saw him in the UEFA Champions League for Malmö and his quality won us over. He love to tackle and he doesn’t shy away from duels in the air. I was shock when he didn’t make the Nigerian team to AFCON”, the coach said

Napoli Coach Spalletti Reveals How To Make Osimhen Score More Goals After Scoring Against Venezia

0

Head coach of Napoli Luciano Spalletti is pleased to see club record signing Victor Osimhen get back among the goals after a lengthy absence due to a facial injury.

Osimhen scored his tenth goal in 17 games in all competitions with the second goal for Napoli in their 2-0 win over Venezia taking them back to second spot on the Serie A table.

Spalletti says the Nigeria international striker has it in him to score more goals before the end of the season if the team plays to his strength as seen in the move that led to the header he scored yesterday.

“He has the qualities”, Spalletti told DAZN. We have to improve in serving him, not always dribble and not put the defenders in a position to defend on his qualities. In the first half we played too much on the feet and little in space forcing him to have the entire opposing team around”, he explained.

The coach will be hoping Osimhen keeps his scoring run going when they take on league leaders Inter Milan who are currently one point ahead of them on the Serie A log.

Former coach of the Nigeria U17 and U20 team Emmanuel Amuneke has aired his views on his reported appointment by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) as part of the technical crew of the senior national team of Nigeria.

Amuneke as first reported by this portal had been added to the Austine Eguavoen led crew as part of the move by the NFF to beef up the technical crew ahead of the World Cup playoff against Ghana in March.

We gathered he will be part of the assistant of Eguavoen who will work on a mandate to deliver the World Cup ticket to Nigeria. Amuneke however denied that he has been offered the chance of joining the crew.

In an interview with Sporting Sun, the coach who is back in Spain after working for CAF  as part of the technical study group at the recently concluded Africa Cup of Nations said no contact has been made so far. Although he said he will make a decision when he is contacted.

“I’m not aware of any appointment with the Super Eagles or any job with the Nigerian government. I just return to my base in Spain from the CAF Technical Study Group duty at the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon and I read the story of my appointment from the Internet,” he was quoted as saying by Sporting Sun Emma Jemegah.

“I was in the team’s hotel in Cameroon countless times and there was no time the appointment was discussed with me. Right now, nobody has contacted me, not even the NFF or the Sports Ministry. Until an offer is made, I will rather not talk on that,” he sounded off.

Ex Super Eagles Coach Oliseh Opens Up – I Was Sacked For Winning Too Many Matches

0

Former captain and coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Sunday Oliseh has opened up on the reason behind his controversial exit from Dutch side Fortuna Sittard.

Oliseh took over the second division team at a time when they were struggling to beat the drop to the third division. He kept them up spectacularly by almost sneaking into a promotion play off spot. That earned him an extended stay at the club.

The next season which was his first full season at the club saw them go top of the table but he was relieved off his role as coach in controversial fashion with the club saying it’s due to non sporting reasons. They ended up gaining promotion to the top division that same season.

Speaking on what led to his exit, Oliseh who said his only regret was a post he made on Twitter about his departure from the club revealed that , he was sacked because after winning so much matches he is entitled to a huge bonus which the team might struggle to pay him.

“The owner never expected that so many matches would be won and certainly not that a period championship would be won. My monthly salary was not high, but with good results there would be hefty bonuses. It was hundreds of thousands of euros.”

“When I started to ask what I was entitled to, suddenly I was no longer good. Do you really think you can get such good results if you don’t have a good relationship with the players?” Oliseh asked.

Oliseh watched on as the team finished second behind Jong Ajax to gain promotion to the Dutch top division in a season where he set the base for their success. He took the club to the Dutch arbitration for compensation for the job he did but lost out due to a post he made on social media after his exit.

“I laid the foundation for the promotion and I haven’t received a cent of promotion premium yet. But it’s not even about the money for me. It just feels unfair how I’ve been treated”, he explained.

“I have also been approached by Roda JC and FC Köln in the meantime, but I have my principles. I only regret a tweet I posted after my resignation, in which I tried to tell my side of the story to make things clear. I shouldn’t have done that”, he admitted.
