Top assist providers in Europe in the last five years

0

The world of football seems to largely recognize goal scorers more than anything else. The contribution given by goalkeepers, defenders and midfielders in a team winning titles is rarely recognized when awarding best performers.

Recently, Lionel Messi won the Ballon d’Or accolade and there was no hiding that the biggest yardstick was the goals he had scored during the period. There’s no hiding the fact that he is a big player, the best the world has seen in the last 15 years or so but basing performance largely on goals scored was found to be a bit skewed.

The most important element of a game, and winning, that mostly goes unrecognized, is the assist. The assist providers are rarely awarded even though they play a larger role as king makers. Here’s a list of the best assist providers over the last five calendar years.

2020 – Lionel Messi: The 34-year old Argentine remains a key player even after leaving Barcelona in the summer. In the calendar year 2020, Messi provided 26 assists in 44 matches while at the Spanish giants.

2019 – Kevin De Bruyne: The 30-year old Belgian international was a key player for Manchester City as they continued with their dominance in the Premier League. He provided assists for 23 goals, all these coming in 47 matches, making him the best provider in that calendar year.

2018 – Luis Suarez: The Uruguayan is now 34 and getting well past his best years. At his prime though, he was one of the most lethal forwards in world football. One of these years happened to be in 2018, when at Barcelona, he provided a total of 27 assists in 50 matches for the La Liga giants.

2017 – Neymar Jr.: The year 2017 will be remembered for the most expensive transfer deal that saw Brazilian international Neymar Jr switch from Barcelona to French giants PSG. The year belonged to the forward in more than just one way. That year he was also the man with the most assists in Europe, having created 27 across 47 matches for Barcelona and PSG. His reunion with Messi at PSG was a move to reignite their fire while at Barcelona but he would shortly suffer a long term injury and fans have been denied the chance to see the two great creatives play together.

However, even as fans cope with this injury blow, a bright ray is in the fact that Wincomparator lists some of the best bonuses; for example, the $130 welcome bonus at 1XBet, ShangriLa’s €100 as well as 22Bet’s bonus of up to €122, all which are activated right at registration of a new account.

2016 – Lionel Messi: The best part of the last 10 years has without doubt belonged to Lionel Messi. Rightly, he is the only player to top the list of assists in Europe two times in the last five years. In 2016, he had 28 assists in 51 matches while at Barcelona, making him the highest provider.

Metal. Metal commodities include gold, platinum, copper, etc. Gold or XAUUSD is one of the common investment products for many as it is considered a stable material.

Demand and supply

The increasing need for a particular commodity can cause a huge shift in the price. For example, if drought causes damage to the corn crop, the supply will be affected heavily. While the demand remains the same, the reduced supply can cause an increasing shift in the cost of corn.

Volatility and liquidity

Good price movements and increasing volume mean better trading conditions for traders. The slippage on trades is minimal, and the volatility is never-ending.

Market hours

Traders can trade on commodities 24/5. The trading hours can depend on the exchange.

Commodities Trading Strategies

There are various techniques used to trade commodities. One of the advanced includes analyzing the level 2 market data to identify big buyers and sellers and then take the same side of the trade.

Beginners and amateurs can learn to trade using technical analysis and then, later on, analyze the fundamentals. To explain briefly, the prior involves using support/resistance, supply/demand, and trend lines for measuring market movement while the latter utilizes the economic news.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Trading Commodities

Direction. Traders can trade on CFDs on both long and short sides and use hedging strategies.
Leverage. Traders can enjoy a good amount of margin. While this can help increase profits, it can also increase the risk.

A few demerits of commodities are:

Uncontrollable situations. Any major geographical change can shoot up or fall down the price of commodities. This is one of the reasons why they may be considered high-risk assets.

Traders must adhere to proper risk management while trading. With a good strategy and mindset, it is possible to trade commodities for a living.

I Will Sue If You Play For Nigeria At Africa Cup Of Nations- Napoli Lawyer Warns Osimhen

0

Napoli lawyer Mattia Grassani has stated that action could be taken in court if Napoli forward Victor Osimhen decide to honour the call up to represent Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Osimhen has already declared his readiness to represent Nigeria at the tournament following his recovery from a facial injury that required surgery but Grassani says he will sue the forward if he goes ahead to play for Nigeria.

He said the situation regarding the spread of the Omicron variant of the global pandemic coronavirus is why players shouldn’t be allowed to travel a country like Cameroon which isn’t the best in regards to tackling the spread of the virus.

“Given the epidemiological situation, warnings and other similar situations may start,’ he told Calcionapoli24.it.

‘This competition takes away important resources from the clubs. This is a particular historical moment, it would be different if there was 99 per cent security and the situation was clear.

‘[Napoli] have invested a lot of money in signing Victor Osimhen and if he were to come back infected it would be tough.

‘The first step would be a warning [to prevent a call up] then if there were concrete elements to sue because the health standards are not the same as in European competitions, then there could be more appeals to gain an exemption for Europe-based players.’

Super Eagles Coach- NFF Dump Peseiro For Another Ex Assistant Of Mourinho Morais, Might Lead Team To AFCON

0

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have shifted their interest from Jose Peseiro to another of Jose Mourinho former assistant in Jose Morais, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

Peseiro was the first choice option but only because Morais who has won three league titles in two different countries wasn’t keen on leaving his job as coach of Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia owing to the interim role he was offered by Nigeria.

Sources reveal that the 56 year old Portuguese has now had a change of mind and has officially notified the NFF who have now immediately switched to agreeing a deal with him ahead of Peseiro.

“Morais has a better CV than Peseiro. They are the two top contenders and both were recommended to us by Jose Mourinho. We have settled for Morais and he will lead the team to the Africa Cup of Nations if we are able to reach an agreement soon”, a source revealed.

President of the NFF Amaju Pinnick also hinted same while speaking to journalist in Lagos after an event. He mentioned Peseiro as one of the coaches but sounded as if they have someone who is ahead of him in the race for the job.

“But we have spoken to three top coaches and Peseiro, whose name has been going around, is one of the coaches and I can tell you he is a top coach”, Pinnick said.

He added, “We also talked to Mladen (Krstajic) but after talking to him he got a job with a top club in Israel, Maccabi Tel Aviv. You can see these are coaches that are hungry and ready to take Nigeria as a home; they are people that we know are ready to face the challenge from the 200 million Nigerians.

Speaking further he explained “If the coach will give us the Nations Cup, he will be drafted in immediately. I am not going to tell you that it will be later, because of what essence is the recruitment? If the executive committee says yes and we are ready, what are we waiting for?

“When I spoke with one of the coaches on Tuesday, he was already scouting our players and was telling me things I didn’t even know about our players. It was quite impressive and he told me the strength of each player and he took me off guard. We are not going to experiment and if he can win the Nations Cup, no problem”, he concluded.

Eguavoen Is Good But We Want Someone Better – Pinnick Speaks On Super Eagles Interim Coach

0

President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Amaju Pinnick says the football body is on the look out for a substantive coach for the senior national team of Nigeria despite appointing Austine Eguavoen as interim coach.

Eguavoen was handed the role following the sacking of Gernot Rohr but it appears he won’t be in charge of the team for the Africa Cup of Nations which begins next month in Cameroon.

Pinnick hinted at the possibility of the coach not leading the team to the tournament while speaking with journalist in Lagos after an event where he was a special guest.

“We know Eguavoen can do it, but we also want someone who can do it better. If we are unable to sign him soon, then we will work with the current team. But I am not going to tell you that if we have him signed today, he is not going to lead the team to the AFCON”, Pinnick said.

He however said if they fail to reach an agreement with their preferred option and Eguavoen goes ahead to win the AFCON he will be handed the role permanently with qualification for the 2022 World Cup via the play off as immediate target.

“And if Eguavoen wins the Nations Cup, we might have a rethink. In that case, the foreign coach will now become the technical director, while Eguavoen takes the position of technical adviser”, he concluded.

CAF Stops Eguavoen From Altering Rohr’s AFCON Provisional List, Dims Chances Of Nwakali, Others

0

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has blocked the interim coach of the Super Eagles Austine Eguavoen from altering the already submitted provisional list of players for the Africa Cup of Nations, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

Sacked coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has already submitted a provisional list of 37 players to CAF but Eguavoen who replaced him as coach in interim capacity wanted to add some players to the list.

CAF however replied the coach that it won’t be possible to add new names to the list but injured players can be replaced and for now Nigeria have only one injured player in Paul Onuachu who isn’t ruled out of the tournament yet.

The decision means the five names proposed by Eguavoen which includes Kelechi Nwakali of Huesca face a daunting task of getting into the list unless picked as replacement for Onuachu if he is declared unfit to represent Nigeria at the tournament.
