The duo of Jamilu Collins and Alex Iwobi were not part of the senior national team of Nigeria first full training ahead of their 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

They took part in the warm up exercise with the rest of the team but after that weren’t part of the practice match which took place later on during the session.

It’s still unclear why they didn’t take part in the full session but it appears to be fitness related as they trained separately with the physical trainer of the team.

Both players will likely take part in tomorrow’s session as they came through the drills with the fitness coach unscathed. A total of 20 players took part in the full session with two goalkeepers in Francis Uzoho and Daniel Akpeyi.

The third goalkeeper in the squad Maduka Okoye who is also the first choice goalkeeper was conspicuously missing from the session entirely.

West Ham Make Transfer Deadline Day Move To Sign Super Eagles Leftback Zaidu Sanusi On Loan From Porto

0

Per reports in the Portuguese and English press, Nigeria international left back Zaidu Sanusi is of interest to English Premier League side West Ham as the deadline for signing of new players ends today.

Zaidu has fallen down the pecking order at Porto after a fine start to life at the club he joined last summer from Santa Clara and immediately owned the left back spot.

An indifferent start to the season hasn’t help the criticism he suffered towards the end of last season and only last week coach of the Nigerian team Gernot Rohr said he will leave Porto before the end of this summer transfer window.

It appears to be the reason why he hasn’t linked up with the Super Eagles squad for their Friday World Cup 2022 qualifiers game against Liberia, which will be followed by another game in four days time against Cape Verde.

Belgium Side Genk Agree Deal To Let Super Eagles Forward Join Omeruo At Leganes

0

Fringe Super Eagles forward Cyriel Dessers has agreed a loan move to Spanish second division side Leganes from Belgium side Genk.

Although he started the season as second choice striker behind club’s leading marksman Paul Onuachu. The arrival of Ike Ugbo means Dessers dropped to the option of third choice striker at the club that he joined last summer after scoring 18 goals in the Dutch Eredivisie for Heracles Almelo.

He hasn’t hit same height like he did in the Netherlands with his fellow Nigerian Onuachu the headline maker at the club after scoring 35 goals last season. The inability of the club to trade off the lanky Nigerian played a huge role in the decision to let Dessers leave on loan.

Dessers who has one cap for Nigeria which came last year when he played for 18 minutes in the 1-1 friendly draw against Tunisia will team up with another Nigerian in Kenneth Omeruo at the Spanish side.
