Kenneth Omeruo suffered relegation with Leganes and was widely tipped to leave the team for another team in a top flight league but no offer has matched what Leganes want. If the situation remains same till the end of today he will end this season in the Spanish second division.

Jamilu Collins appears to be suffering same fate as Omeruo and Dennis but a lot worst in the sense that he hasn’t played in the last three games of Paderborn. A move to Union Berlin fell through just like what happened with his proposed move to Schalke 04 over the €10 million asking fee of Paderborn.

Saka was yesterday called up to the senior national team of England after impressing for Arsenal and also the youth teams of England. He is now expected to make his debut which will in a way put an end to Nigeria’s quest to lure him.

Saka has been on the radar of Nigeria for a while with the president of the Nigeria Football Federation ( NFF) Amaju Pinnick particularly keen on having him play for Nigeria.

Saka was even invited as a special guest to watch the Super Eagles in action before the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Why Rohr Picked Ebuehi As Replacement For Ndidi In Super Eagles Squad Instead Of Ramon Azeez

0

The decision to pick Tyronne Ebuehi as replacement for Injured Wilfred Ndidi In the Nigerian squad for their upcoming games against Algeria and Tunisia didn’t go down well with many as Gernot Rohr replaced a midfielder with a defender.

Many were expecting Ramon Azeez who was placed on standby in the original list to get the nod as he plays in almost same position for his Spanish side Granada but he was overlooked by Rohr.

The decision to pick Ebuehi was first revealed by Owngoalnigeria.com before the coach formally confirmed it two days ago leaving many wondering about his choice.

We gathered Rohr picked Ebuehi because the squad already has players in midfield he wants to access before making a final decision on inviting them in future games.

Among those players is Mikel Agu, a player Rohr strongly believes in but he hasn’t truly stamped his authority in the team. This set of games and with Ndidi and Azeez absent will give him the chance to assess him further.

Also the invitation of Frank Onyeka who has been rated as the best midfielder in Denmark owing to his performance for Midtjylland who are through to the group stages of the UEFA Champions League also worked against Azeez.

Rohr has been very impressed with Onyeka and want to give him the chance to work his way into the position of pushing Ndidi for his spot starting with these games.

Azeez is still very much in the plans of the coach but his inclusion in future games is now heavily dependent on what these guys mentioned above offer the team against Algeria and Tunisia respectively.

We gathered he has officially filed in his papers with FIFA after a meeting with Rohr and he will likely join the team in Austria as he already has a Nigerian passport unlike Akpoguma and Kingsley Ehizibue.

Like Akpoguma, Ehizibue hasn’t been issued a Nigerian passport hence wasn’t included in the list of players called up by Gernot Rohr for the game.

“ Yes he has filed his papers officially and if it comes through from FIFA as expected he will be in for his debut against either Algeria or Tunisia. His case is more clearer now but I’m sorry I can’t give you his name”, a member of the backroom team of Rohr told Owngoalnigeria.com.

His expected presence means the defence of the Nigerian team now has three players who were born in Germany as aside Akpoguma, there is Leon Balogun who has been a part of the team for a while now.

Garba Lawal – Super Eagles Never Really Needed Bukayo Saka, We Have His Type

0

Former Nigeria international winger Garba Lawal says the senior national team of Nigeria won’t in any way be affected by the decision of Bukayo Saka to honor a call up to the senior national team of England.

The 19 year old was handed a first time call up by coach of the senior national team of England Gareth Southgate yesterday bringing an end to the his chase by Nigeria.

Nigeria were hoping to lure the highly rated left footed player to their team despite the fact that he has represented England at various youth levels. His parents were contacted by the NFF.

Saka was also invited by the NFF to travel down to Nigeria and be with the Super Eagles in a bid to have him get used to the system but he declined the offer using his contract standoff with Arsenal back then as an excuse.

Yesterday he posted his excitement at getting his first call up to the senior national team of England bringing an end to his chase by Nigeria but Lawal insist he wasn’t needed in the first place.

“ What Nigeria have in abundance at the moment is wingers. A lot of them unlike other areas. So if Saka has decided to pay for England it’s okay to wish him well. It’s not like he was needed badly. No he isn’t a priority “, Lawal told Owngoalnigeria.com.

“ I understand why the coaches try to get him because he is top quality and will improve any team but even without him they are players in the team who are almost at his level and can provide same input like him”.
